Mrs. Holt was my piano teacher for over ten years, starting at age six, along with my older sister and younger brother.  Because of her patient and inspirational manner of teaching, our foundation, appreciation and expression through all music continues to this present day. 

My lasting memory of her expressing emotion through music was her divine, soprano vocal of the carol "O Holy Night" sung at the height of Christmas Eve Mass at St. Charles Catholic Church --- final chorus: 

Fall on your knees 
O hear the angel voices 
O night divine 
O night when Christ was born 
O night divine! 
O night, O night divine! 

My sincere condolences and prayers to Mrs. Holt's family.  She will always be forever remembered in our thoughts and memories.

Mrs. Holt will always hold a special place in my heart as my piano teacher during my formative years. She imparted not only a love for understanding rhythm, notes, and expressing emotions through music, but also instilled in me the ability to truly feel through music. 

Mrs. Holt's presence will be greatly missed, and may she rest in peace.

Mrs. Holt had a beautiful soul.  She taught me piano from the age 7-19.  I was not the best student.  She was very demanding and knowledgeable about music.  Although I did not gravitate to piano like my parents had hoped, I gained so much more.  As I took lessons into my late teens we developed a bond that was precious to me.  She was my friend, my confidant, beauty consultant (her skin always glowed), Ninang, mentor, and inspiration.  I looked up to her and looked forward to our talks after my lessons.  She had a wonderful smile.  I will miss you Mrs. Holt.

Like many first and second generation Filipino families, Mrs. Holt taught my family the gift of music, particularly classical music. It is a foundation that we have built upon in our lives, thanks to the passion and patience that she brought to her students. Her gifts will live through those she touched. My condolences to her family during this difficult time. She will be remembered and missed.

She taught myself and my two brothers to love and perform classical piano music starting at age four into our adulthood.  Life is made less onerous and more enjoyable by people like her, and she will be missed, particularly by all her piano students.

I will be forever grateful to Mrs. Holt as a wonderful teacher, soprano and friend to our family.
