Della Mae Garcia

Della Garcia passed away peacefully at her home of fifty-four years in Bonita, California. Succumbed to cancer that she bravely battled for three years. Beloved mother of seven, grandmother of sixteen, great-grandmother of ten, and great-great grandmother of four.

She was preceded in death by:

Husband Jose (Joe) Maria Garcia to whom she was married for forty-four years, daughter Mary Clapp, grandson Nathan Garcia, siblings Nell George and Melvin Green.

She is survived by:

Son Daniel, his wife Ute, son Michael, his wife Mary, son Phillip, son Anthony, his wife Christine, daughter Martha McBride, her husband Russell, and daughter Brenda Straley, her husband Karl.

Grandchildren: Andrea Sargent, Danyette Duarte, Joshua, Jessica, Jakob, David, Sarah, Teresa, Tiffany Sullivan, Janet Peterson, Vanessa, Zachary, Rebecca, Rachael, Michael.

Great-grandchildren John, Ashley, Bryan, Garren. Aliciana, Maeson, Gabrielle, Isabelle, Gabriella, Cole.

Great-great grandchildren Joel, Mia, Gabby, Jaylen.

Della was born in Oklahoma to Luther Colombus Green and Lurie Ethel Holland. After graduating Red Oak High School Class of 1943 she moved to Chula Vista, California, and worked at Rohr Aircraft where she met her husband Joe. In 1959 they built and moved into their home in Bonita which Della made into the hub of the family and served as a second home to many of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and reading mystery novels.
