My deepest condolences to Doug’s family. Great memories of this guy… I would let him cheat off of me in Spanish class in exchange for a ride home from school!!! He must have made similar deals in his other classes because we were jam packed in his little car. It was the best part of our school day! Rest in Peace Doug. You are the best!!!

Cowboy and Family, no words will ever describe how sorry I am for your family’s loss. Coach was one of the best people I have ever known, and he still impacts me every day. He will be deeply missed by me, and by everyone he touched. He impacted so many peoples lives in the most positive way. I will always hold on to all the good memories from the best days of my life being out on the field with Coach, and with all the girls doing what we all loved. HOOOORAAAAHHH! I’m so grateful to have been part of the PSURGE Family. 🩵🖤🤍

"Coach" thanks for all the great memories we had! Going back 17 years ago to the CP High School softball days, you had such a major impact to all the girls and Myself. You and I going over strategies, drills and you assigning me to take over the JV Team. I learned so much from you and continue to use those valuable coaching techniques. Like they say, " A COACH WILL IMPACT more young people a year than the average person does in a Lifetime" That was You! I know your looking down on us with your Astros/Cowboys Hat making a Parlay, Miss you and Love you my brother! 


Grandpa, we will miss you tremendously. You will always live in our hearts and memories. We love you to infinity and beyond💕 Your grand babies, Alessandra, baby Roy and new baby sibling 🩷

It has been said, ‘when God calls our loved one's home, He leave us with the gift of memories”, and I have very good memories of my friend and colleague, Douglas C. Martinez, better known as “Coach!”

Coach was thoughtful, respectful, straightforward, a thinker, reliable, a man of integrity, trustworthy, a good listener but more than anything, he was a God-fearing man.  

We used to share our testimonies about the goodness of the Lord…one of the many things I will miss about him. The sudden and unexpected demise of our dear friend weighs heavy on my heart; however, I’m at peace knowing his spirit is with the Lord. Coach and I recently attended the home-going service of one of his (our) dear friends, Victor Navarro, and the preached message came from 2 Corinthians 5:7-9.  Coach expressed how powerful the message was, how it resonated in his spirit and that he will continue to walk by faith! We had church in the passageway…another memory I will hold dear to my heart.

To the family, loved ones and friends of ‘Coach’….it is my prayer when you think about our beloved brother, father, son, uncle, cousin and friend, may your memories of him bring joy to your spirit and peace to your soul.  I pray God’s spirt of Comfort will rest gently on your hearts.  May the peace of Christ be with you.

Coach, you left the game too soon. You lived a good life. You touched many people. We will always remember you with respect. Our deepest sympathy to your family. 

I'm so, so sorry to hear about Doug. I have such great childhood memories with him. I remember driving out to visit one summer when we were little and immediately taking off together to go play - me in my shorts and tennies, he in his jeans and cowboy boots. Then, when we were older, he moved to the city and to my high school and we got to hang out again! We didn't see each other often growing up and not at all as adults, but it doesn't matter, he's always been my cool cuz in my heart and I'm sad that I'll never see him again. So, to my family in California that I have not had the privilege of meeting, and to my family here in Texas, please know that you are lifted up in love and prayer. Peace be with you, Trish
