Ray and Family.  My wife Mary and I deeply regret your loss of Ellie. Ray was a housemate and  introduced me to her in the early 1960's when they met in the Radiology Dept. at the U of M Medical School. She was such an attractive, outgoing, charming, intelligent, motivated, buoyant person. As she and Ray were wed my wife Wynn(deceased in 1992) and I would continue to see them socially in MN  and also as members of a couples investment club called the DIC. 

After their move to the San Diego area my second wife Mary Swanson and I would meet Ray and Ellie when we were in the San Diego area or when they would join a DIC travel outing. I particularly remember their joining us in trips to AZ and WA. It has been wonderful for staying in touch with them over almost 60 yr. period.

I have so many fond memories of Ellie that it's hard to put into words all the wonderful times we had playing our ukulele's on Tuesdays.  She was such a warm hearted individual that people were naturally drawn to her.  I'll miss sharing my music with her each week and will miss her friendly smile and great sense of humor.  

My heart goes out to all her family members during this very difficult time.  

Ellie's reputation as an artist preceded my meeting her.  This was way back, years ago when I had just finished grad school and another friend of mine was studying watercolor in a class with Ellie.  I was told that we had a lot in common and I should meet her.  

I don't know when we actually met.  Maybe while walking around Rohr Park, the Bonita Museum or another art class.  Then, there she was when I joined Merry Ukes.  She would try to save a chair for me right next to her and was always willing to play a ukulele duet with me.  What fun we had!

Ellie and her husband Ray became good friends with my husband and I.  We enjoyed talking about our Baja California visits over a dinner of Mexican food and a beer.  

Ellie and Ray have always been very supportive of my artwork. They have attended art exhibits of my work, purchased a piece and Ellie has taken an art class with me.  

I will miss her smile and kindness as well as her willingness to share a song and a drawing with me.  Gary and I send our best wishes and sympathy to the family. 

Ellie was my number one ukulele lady.  Have some fond memories.  Miss her charming smile and laughter.  Rieta and I extend our deepest condolences to you and the family Ray.

Will miss Ellie's smile and melodic tempo at MERRY UKES.   Always had a smile for everyone.

I played ukulele with Ellie at the Bonita Library and it was always fun to run into her walking the golf course,   Ellie was such a happy person!  I loved being around her!  Prayers and love to all of your family.

Ellie and I were friends for years and have may happy memories of our time together.   She was always so upbeat and adventurous with a  smile and gentle manner .  I will miss her greatly.  John and I send our condolences to Ray and family.

Ellie was a wonderful person I have many good memories of her from our dance group Dancing Partners, March Birthday girls, and  her many good friends. She was  a terrific social chairman of Dancing Partners  and her cheerful smile and friendly ways. She will be missed.

Gloria and I have so many wonderful memories these last 20 years. Ray and I became friends as we realized how much we had in common flying model airplanes, it wasn’t long before we began traveling to flying competitions in the southwest United States. One trip that was particularly special was in October 2002 when a number of us went to the tournament of champions International flying competition in Las Vegas Nevada. The best model airplane pilots in the world competed for $50,000 first prize. Miss Ellie and Gloria got along so well from the first time they met.  A short time after going to this competition Ray and I begin flying in competition and Ellie and Gloria were right there along with us. The strength of our friendship steadily increased as the years went by and we shared many dinners together just enjoying each other, talking about life and family. Ms Ellie was our special “go to counselor” providing us with advice sprinkled with  kindness. We loved her and we will miss her so much.
