Ernest Raymond Dozier was born November 27, 1921 in Portland, Oregon to Ernest Earl Dozier of Gales Creek, Oregon and Maude Burton Dozier, who came to America from London England. Ray was the younger of two children. His sister was Adeline Mabel Treadway who predeceased him December 17, 2013.
The family moved to San Diego when Ray was 5. They lived in Hillcrest on 4th Street. He was a paperboy at a young age and worked in his adult life as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 569.
Ray married Joyce Grettenberg of Des Moines, Iowa in June 1944 and had two children, Phyllis and Earl. They were just shy of being married 71 years at the time of her death in April, 2015. The family regularly attended Laurel Bible Chapel.
Ray had a very subtle sense of humor, was capable of doing many things. He liked to read including reading his Bible, and understood technical things. Ray and Earl belonged to the Sunfish Club and could be found racing on Mission Bay with the club, and traveling to other venues to race including the Bahamas.
Ray is survived by his two children, Phyllis and Earl and a daughter-in-law Ali, two grandchildren, Eric and Robyn, nephews John Treadway, Jerry Treadway, Jim Treadway and Jean Drake
