

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Felicitas Velasco Ona was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Felicitas will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Felicitas’s life journey began on December 29, 1929. She first greeted the world in Imus, Cavite, Philippines. Her parents’ names were Leonor Velasco and Benito Gelasio. She was raised with two siblings, Virgilio and Reynaldo Gelasio. Felicitas was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her family sharing many life experiences over the years. Felicitas graduated from College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Felicitas experienced that with Maximo Ona, Sr. and the couple exchanged wedding vows on September 13, 1950. The wedding took place in the Imus Cathedral, Cavite, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Felicitas was committed to making her new family happy. While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Felicitas was blessed with three children, Elmer, Maximo Jr. and Fedeliza. Felicitas worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Felicitas was blessed with the gift eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Felicitas enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Felicitas worked diligently and did her best to succeed as an Elementary School Teacher. A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Felicitas enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including Cooking and Gardening. She was usually willing to share her interests with others. Felicitas was a very generous and compassionate woman who always finds a way to extend a helping hand, whether it be emotional, spiritual, or monetary help.
Felicitas Velasco Ona left us on June 17, 2013. She passed away in San Diego, California. She was eighty three years old. The cause of death was due to a stroke. She is survived by her son Elmer Ona married to Lally Stuart, her son Maximo Ona Jr. married to Lorraine Salvo, and her daughter Fedeliza married to Benjamin Cancino, Her grandchildren Leah Ona married to Kenneth Rumaguira, Kristina, David and Phillip ( children of Elmer and Lally ), Nicholas and Christian ( children of Liza and Benjamin ), and her great grandchildren Aljon, Michelle, Kenneth Jr. and Kelvin.
Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. Visitation Services were held Saturday, June 22, 2013 and Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel in Bonita, California. The Catholic Funeral Mass took place Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Michael Catholic Church San Diego, California. Felicitas was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
So this is Felicitas life, the sum of the woman that she became. Simply stated, Felicitas was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Felicitas leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Felicitas Velasco Ona touched will always remember her with a smile.
