Most Memorable Memories by Loved Ones
–Lade Buenaflor (daughter)
• “Since I am picky with food, Nanay will always have dried meat in a bottle, and that is what she would cook for me. I will always feel special, because Nanay always asked me what dish I would want to eat, and she would cook it for me.”

• “My most memorable childhood experience with Nanay was when she would bring me to the market with her. She will leave me in one spot while she does more shopping and made me watched some of our stuff. Well, you all have an idea how hard it is to do groceries in the wet market. She will order me to stay put which I always do. Then once she comes back, there it is, ‘Magnolia Chocolait,’ my reward. I always cherished that moment and always will. Another one was every time there is an oncoming special occasions like Christmas and fiesta, Nanay will always take me to dry goods market (Ate Tita and Ate Floreng’s Store) and buy me my dress in which she will hide from Tatay and make that our kept secret.”
–Aloha Poblete (daughter)
• “Ako lagi taga tikim ng niluluto ni nanay lalo na kung chicken.”
–Edwin Enguancho (son)
• "Nanay likes to have her feet massage while eating sunflower seeds until she falls asleep, but I end up finishing the sunflower seeds."
–Ryan Enguancho (youngest son)
• “Isang dakilang ina ang Nanay Popo. Noong nakasama ko siya sa bahay nila sa Bagbag, ni isang bes hindi ko siya nakitang bumaba ng bahay. From the time she gets up in the morning and at the end of the day, the only place she goes is the batalan, where she washes the clothes all day and at the same time, gets the food ready for lunch.
Even when Richard was born at your mama's house, she does her daily routine without going down, this is a true statement. Nagbiro nga ako, tinanong ko siya, Nanay Popo, what if Richard was born in the hospital, are you going to go out of the house? She said with a smile, siyempre naman, unang apo namin siya ng Tatay Eddie mo. She is very simple and always thinking about her family.”
– Obet Almario (son-in-law)
• “Nanay would always tell me about the stories of her family, especially her sister auntie Elpie, and brother uncle Norben. She also takes an hour to shower. I remember when Nanay would breastfeed Rexell so that she will stop crying when she baby sat her. And when we came here in the U.S., Nanay said that she had graduated from cooking for Rexie because I am here now, that it is time for her to rest with cooking.”
–Ellen Enguancho (daughter-in-law)
• "Nanay was always one of the last person to leave when I sang back in the old days. She made me feel special even if I'm the worst singer. I love her.”
–Rosana Enguancho (daughter-in-law)
• “I fell in love with her first before my wife. She can make/cook chicken adobo without tasting it coz she does not eat chicken. We were watching a movie "Ghost" and at the end of the movie she asked me how come the giant shark never come out, so then I asked what about the shark? Her reply was I thought we were watching Jaws....not to mentioned that Aloha and I were just dating. And yes she was always with us when Aloha and I were dating and dressed up first before my wife.”
–Choie Poblete (son-in-law)
• “Every time I would go and visit, she would always ask if I ate already. Also, Nanay would always tell stories about Ryan growing up. She’s very caring and loving mother-in-law.”
–Joan Enguancho (daughter-in-law)
• “My fondest memory of Nanay Popo was when we were still living in the house on South Sienna Street. I think I was about 9 or 10. I remember every day after lunch, I would go with Nanay Popo to her room, she would check her blood sugar and inject herself on the stomach if she needed insulin. And when I asked her why she had to do that, she said to me, “dahil malakas kumain ang Nanay.” Then after that she would watch her favorite game show “The Price is Right”, while eating her favorite snack, Sunflower seeds. We will miss you our dearest Nanay Popo! We love you! You will remain in our hearts forever! May you rest peacefully in paradise with our Lord…”
Lovingly,
Your apo Beverlyn (grand daughter)
• “For a few times I have come on a weekend at least once a month para kulayan hair ni Nanay pag nakita niya na maitim ulit hair niya at naayos ko yung smile sa face niya is priceless. Lagi ko niloloko na ready na siya sa date nila ni Tatay, then tango siya with a smile. Gusto niya na kahit naka lay lang siya sa bed at times nasa Arbor Hills siya lagi siya may powder at lipstick. Madami pa ako memories pero aiiyak ako pagtytype lang. Pero just last night I dreamt about her and yung smile niya was just exactly smile niya sa picture nan aka red top siya.”
–Rexell Imperial (grand daughter)
