

Frederico Perez Prado, 83, passed away on August 13, 2013. Born on November 25, 1929, Frederico was raised in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan Philippines. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Navy. During his 20 years of service, he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and was a Storekeeper aboard submarines such as the USS Redfish and USS Pintado. The USS Pintado was his final duty station before retiring in 1975. While in service to his country, Frederico was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, 5 Good Conduct Medals, Vietnam Service Medal (8th Campaign), and Navy Expeditionary Medal.
Frederico married the love of his life, Marcelina Mendoza in 1959. Together they raised three boys Frederico, Jr., Glenn, and Philipp. They lived in Hawaii, Norfolk, Virginia, and then settled in San Diego, California.
After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Frederico started his own general contracting company called Prado & Sons Construction. He made his living building homes and home additions with his sons by his side, and continued working full time for another 20 years.
His interests included spending time with family and friends, carpentry, dancing, bowling, poker, playing solitaire, and watching his favorite sports team (The San Diego Padres).
Mr. Prado is survived by his wife, Marcelina Mendoza Prado, his three sons Frederico Perez Prado, Jr., Glenn Mendoza Prado, and Philipp Mendoza Prado and their spouses MaryLiza Jazmin Prado, Holly Aldrich Prado, and Myra Desquitado Prado, and his 5 grandchildren Corrinne Prado, Alexandra Prado, Malia Prado, Ric Anthony Prado, and Kennedy Prado. Frederico is also survived by four of his six siblings - 2 brothers Salvador Prado & Ben Prado, and his 2 sisters Caridad Pascua and Asuncion Pidlaoan. He is predeceased by his brother Eladio Prado, and sister Adoracion Prado.
