

Gener, proudly known as Lolo Gene, was born to Atilano and Laura Saradpon on May 18, 1940 in Cavite, Philippines. At the age of 18, Gener enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably for 20 years. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal during his time in service. Upon his retirement from the US Navy, Gene worked as a United States Postal Service mail carrier for 27 years. Before his 2nd retirement, Gene attended United Education Institute (UEI) in Chula Vista where he learned about computers and earned high marks including several semesters on the Dean's Honor Roll List. Gene loved spending his free time with his family, including going to the casinos with his wife, Luz, or taking his two youngest granddaughters shopping at the Navy Exchange, and dropping off guavas and hopia to his two oldest grandkids before heading to the casino.
Gener is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lucila and their four sons Gerry, Ronnie, Erik, and Kris, and two daughters-in-law Marilou and Maria. He is also survived by his four grandchildren that he dearly loved, Lyneiah Ashley, Joshua Nikaia, Kamila Rose, and Mikayla Quinn Lucila. Gener was the oldest of four children and he is survived by his sister, Lulu, and two brothers Ting and Lito.
Gener's family will host viewings on two evenings both at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA 91902 from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The first night will be on Sunday, March 17 and the second night will be on Monday, March 18.
On Tuesday, March 19, a Mass will be held for him at 11:00 am at St. John of the Cross located at 8086 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. Gener will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery located at 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122 promptly at 1315 hours (1:15 pm).
