When Covid hit and we were all isolated in our homes, I started playing an online video game.  One of the first people I met was Goddy – using the online name ‘Byte’.  My online name is ‘Roadrunner’. He became my mentor and helped me immeasurably in the game. But, more important, he became my friend.  I looked forward to chatting with him about all things real and virtual and talking to him helped me get through the lonely covid times.   

The game was virtual but the friendship was real. Ultimately we exchanged phone numbers and names and had plans to meet up one day.  Unfortunately, that time didn’t come soon enough.

The last time we chatted, he mentioned that he had started doing line dancing on Wednesday evenings at a bar near his job and how much he enjoyed it.  I imagine him now welcoming people at the pearly gates, helping them get settled in to the place, and line dancing on Wednesday evenings.  He was one in a million.  I am glad we had the unlikely chance to become friends – even if only online.  



While I didn’t know him in real life, I played an online game with him called Forge of Empires.  I will miss his generosity and friendliness and I truly enjoyed conversing with him about San Diego and other parts of his life.  He will be missed.

He was a good friend of mine for most of junior high and high school I have lots of fun memories and good times with him. I will go back and look at some old photo albums to see if I have pictures and if so I will post them

Me and Gody having a fantastic time celebrating my Muay Thai fight win !! It was always so great and a positive time hanging with Gody !! Will  be missed very very very much !! 

I was heartbroken to hear of Goddy's passing.  He was such a gregarious person with a light inside him that lit up a room.  I loved watching him interact with our girls.  He will be deeply missed.  Sending love and light to you all as you process his sudden loss.

There are too many memories to choose just one. I didn’t have a brother but I knew I always had my cousin Goddy when I needed someone to talk to or have a beer with. I remember he & Marlene came to the East Coast Thanksgiving 1985. They wanted to go to a show but we could only get tickets to see Frank Sinatra. I remember looking over & Goddy was completely asleep…with his mouth open & everything! I laughed & woke him up. He asked if it was over. Lol We saw Rocky 3 that trip & went to the circus (our Lolo’s favorite). It was a fun cousin trip to Lolo’s. Just one snippet of many memories. I’m going miss making family memories with you…reunions, birthdays, talking crap during football season, weddings…

So many memories to pick just one. My first memorable time as an adult with Goddy is my first long trip to SD. He came over to the Hills’ house after my first Padres game to keep the night young. Goddy made a special trip over to make sure we had some quality time. We smoked cigars, sang out loud, watched cops, danced, talked about how much we love our family, and made a bet on who would fall asleep first. (I won…he fell asleep first)

Goddy ALWAYS made time to visit when I was in town and ALWAYS made time to come to Seattle to squeeze family time in to create more memories. His laugh was infectious and EVERYONE wanted to be around him.

You will truly be missed by all of us cousin. Thank you for loving everyone you came in contact with. I love you and will hold your spirit close to my heart. 

As I look through all the pictures of Goddy, so many memories rush back of family reunions, birthdays, and celebrations. What stands out most to me amongst all the memories is how Goddy always lit up a room with his big smile and even bigger heart. He made everyone around him feel loved and heard.  I will miss him.  The world will miss his beautiful smile and kind heart.  We love you cousin.  Sandra

Goddy will always be included in my fond memories of all the family potluck parties of my childhood.  I was the hyper little kid and he was the big brother type that I would look forward to annoying and hanging out with.

When I moved away from San Diego after high school to study design in Los Angeles, Goddy donated to me his portable architectural drafting table.  I used that table for all of my design and drafting projects throughout college.  And was always thankful to Goddy every time I used it.

Thank you Goddy.

My first thought when I think of Goody is how he lit up a room immediately!!! His infectious laugh which Marlene also has will be forever in all who knew him. When you think of Goody you can only think of him smiling.  This world is a little darker without his light but he is surely smiling down on all whom he touched. My heart is with this amazing family.
