Our Ma was born on November 29, 1932, in Jamay, Jalisco, Mexico. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. Her Journey here on earth started out rough having to grow up without parents. As a child she endured rejection, abuse, and poverty. She lacked almost every basic necessity any child should have, including to be loved. She was always a woman with strong faith and hope and this is likely what got her through.
At age 15 she met the love of her life, our grandfather Jose and this was the beginning to making a new life for herself. Lupe worked hard all her life since a very young age to make sure her kids had what she often lacked. She was a strong outspoken woman who was quick to give us a good scolding when she felt the need, but loved all her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She is remembered for always giving, often more than what she could afford, but gave anyways.
Our Ma lived in Oxnard, California for over 50 years and moved to San Diego in 2007. She worked at the Oxnard Friedrich Ranch picking strawberries, Stokleys, and La Chileria and Frozen Foods. In her later years Ma wrote her autobiography. Ma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jose C. Velasco and six children Javier (Yolie), Margarita, Esther (Abel), Luis (Betty), Juan {Michelle), Rafael (Barbara), countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
Te adoramos Ma!
