Irene Barrera Alforque first opened her eyes on April 5, 1917 in Candelaria Zambales Philippines. Late Don Roque Fontelera Barrera and late Tranquilina Dumlao had been blessed by God with a kind, warm and loving beautiful child. She had two brothers, the late Atty. Narciso Dumlao Barrera and the late Josefino Dumlao Barrera. She was popularly called "NENE" and was loved by everyone in town.
At 24, she was chosen as the beautiful queen of her town and was once escorted by late Cesario Barrera.
When she got married in 1941 with Teofilo Diaz Alforque (a handsome guy from Cebu) this spoiled only daughter turned out to be a very good housewife, later became a very good mother to 8 children; Ben, Jun (deceased), Rey (deceased), Nick, Myrna, Oscar, Gerlie, and Galen. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren. She ended up as a great grandmother to 21. Irene was a hard working, kind, caring and loving mother. To sum it up, she lived a colorful, happy and productive almost 97th years of her life that everyone wishes to be.
