Born in Lake County, Illinois, Ivan was raised across his father’s U.S. Navy duty stations in San Diego, California; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Yokosuka, Japan. He later graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Ivan was deeply passionate about history, writing poetry, music, film and social activism. He dedicated himself to serving the marginalized and underserved through his meaningful work with Anakbayan USA.
He will be remembered most for his vivid storytelling, profound kindness, fun-loving personality, and unique, distinguishable laugh.
Ivan's legacy will live on through his loving family, friends, and community.
He is survived by his father, Eleuterio; his mother, Marian; his brother, Elliott; his sister-in-law, Jennifer; his nephew, Ethan; and his many beloved friends and kasamas.
