

JAIME LUIS “Poch” DAVID MADRIGAL, 61, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 30, 1964 in Manila, Philippines, he lived a life defined by service, integrity, and a deep commitment to protecting others.
He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and brother in faith. Poch was a loyal friend and a mentor to many. Known for his stern, strong presence, he believed deeply in service above self and lived that principle every day.
He leaves behind his wife and children whom he loved and always prayed for; Wife: Theresa, Daughter: Jacquelyn with Brother Wilrenz Sumang, and grandson, Eduard Angelo Madrigal Sumang, Daughter: Jamie with Brother Aaron Jeremiah “AJ” Evangelista, Son: James Anthony Madrigal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jaime S. and Ester D. Madrigal, and sister, Ana Marie.
Poch enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1986; his first duty assignment was on the USS Belleau Wood (LHA-3) from 1986 until 1990; then NAS North Island from 1990 to 1992; and finally the Reserves. He then began his law enforcement career with the Department of Defense on the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado; in 1999 he moved on to Los Angeles Air Force Base by the end of his time there he left as a Lieutenant; in 2005 Poch moved on to Fort Irwin where he ended his law enforcement career as Chief of Police. He worked in the private sector for a short period of time with MSA as a K-9 Handler. Poch “Chief” devoted his remaining time in full service to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ).
Jaime/Poch/Chief proudly served in law enforcement for many years, earning the respect of colleagues and the trust of the community through his professionalism, courage, honesty, and compassion. After his years of active duty, he continued his calling to serve by helping congregations create safe and welcoming places of worship. His guidance was marked not only by expertise, but by his steady presence, wisdom, faith and love.
His legacy of protection, faith, and dedication will continue to live on in the lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed.
