Jimmy was born March 6, 1931 in Los Angeles to Vasiliki and Thomas Daglas. Both of Jimmy's parents were born in Greece. For several years Jimmy studied art at the Chicago Art Institute. In 1956 he entered the restaurant business with his father. In 1965 Jimmy opened "El Greco" one of his very successful restaurants. After having two children, Lily and Tom, Jimmy moved his family to San Diego, where he and his partners opened a local chain of family style restaurants called "Jimmy's Family Restaurants".
In 2005, after more than 35 years of being a successful restaurateur, Jimmy retired to give himself and his wife more opportunity to travel to Greece, which he loved to do.
Jimmy was an avid reader and a very accomplished painter. His most prized work, a reproduction of Rafael's 'Madonna and Child' proudly hangs in his Bonita home.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son, Tom; his granddaughter, Despina Coca; his brother, Peter; sisters, Artimis and Iris; and numerous relatives and friends both in the United States and in Greece. His loving daughter, Lily predeceased him in 2008.
