Jessie DeSantiago loving Matriarch, sister, friend, and confidant to many passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 26, 2024. She was surrounded by the love and strength of her family before her passing and has since reunited with her husband Carlos, son Ramon, daughter Veronica, brother Ricky and parents Mr. & Mrs. Ricardo Pamaran and many other loved family members. In the past year Jessie battled chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and chose to cease treatment on April 30th, 2024. Jessie spent her remaining time being cared for, loved and supported by family.
Born September 14th, 1948 in San Pedro, California, Jessie is survived by her daughter Lena, son Carlos Jr. and daughter in law Jessica, grandchildren Jessica, Jeneine, Jazmin, Jena, Mia, Mateo, grandson-in-law Dave, great-grandson Jayce and her extended family through her brothers and sisters and leaves behind 18 cherished cats.
Jessie graduated from Hoover High School class of 1965. She had a fruitful management career with the 32nd Naval Street Galley until she retired to care for her husband Carlos years before his loss to cancer. After his passing she focused on raising Carlos Jr. and gave back to the very hospital who treated and cared for him as a volunteer for several years. Her love for caretaking, community and volunteering continued on as she cared for her mother Stella years later alongside her many siblings. She was a regular at her granddaughter’s schools not missing any event. She was a proud lifetime member of the Hui o Hawai’i and then Ahahui Kiwila Hawai’i of San Diego where she extended her Ohana, volunteered and made many loving friends along the way while instilling the value of culture to her granddaughters. She was known to have a strong personality, giving heart, and always found ways to speak her mind. Many will remember her colorful language and Kool cigarette in hand while going through life.
In her final weeks, Jessie spent precious time with those who loved her the most and doing things such as: watching her granddaughters Jessica, Jeneine, Jazmin and Jena hula dance, watching her Western shows on the Inspiration Channel, enjoying her favorite foods, and being with her cats. Her longing wish for us was to never forget her, therefore we chose the Forget Me Not flower in honor of her final wishes
