Jesus "Chuy" Morado was born on November 22, 1955 in Leon Guanajuato Mexico. Chuy the 4th son of 13 born; twelve boys and one girl- To Maria Teresa Morado "Mama-Te" and Tomas Morado "Papa Tomas". The 11 surviving boys were soon known in the neighborhood as "The Morados". His childhood was filled with many challenges living in Leon with limited means. His father and mother raised them with a strong work ethic, often helping out in the family business of making shoes. When not working, the boys partook in boxing training and amateur fights.
Living in a house with so many kids was interesting; most of them were just one year apart from the next so they were very close. The oldest ones would take on some of the house chores and responsibilities. Living in a house of mostly males presented a Challenge to Mama-Te, but the oldest brothers helped take care of the younger ones. As part of their boxing training they started traveling to other cities to compete in boxing tournaments, some of the brothers made it to the professional level. In April 1978, Chuy won The State Boxing Championship in Leon Guanajuato. In May of the same year he won second place in a large national boxing tournament held in Tijuana, Mexico. Exposures to other towns lead them to consider a life outside of Leon. During one of their visits to Tijuana, a couple of the brothers migrated to the U.S some to Chicago and others to San Diego. Slowly most of them left Mexico and settled in Barrio Logan in San Diego, Later moving to different parts of the City.
Before all that, at the age of 16, he met Martha Martinez, A beautiful young girl from the neighborhood. Chuy had found the love of his life. Do to their age; her parents were against their young love. But their love was strong and they fought to be together. Defeating all odds, they were happily married on Aug. 23, 1975. Together they raised 7 kids: Jose J, Luz, Hilda, Cesar, Yuli, Jorge, and Sergio. Seeking for a brighter future, Chuy traveled to San Diego, California in 1985 for work and in search of a better future. He held many jobs and would send money to his growing family. After establishing himself in San Diego he sent for his family to join him in the United States. Thanks to his hard work and determination the family flourished. He saw all of them graduate high school and 2 of them get married.
Chuy, the quintessential Grandfather and the most assiduous worker, sought to impact the lives of those around him. Chuy was a caring and compassionate person. He cherished the time spent with his three grandchildren, Miguelito, Isaac and Iliana. He enjoyed watching his oldest grandson Miguelito play soccer and going to his games. One of Chuy's favorite past time, singing karaoke with his brothers and friends while enjoying cold cervesas and mariscos. He also loved tools, mechanic work, gardening and cooking. He specially loved his job at the Shipyard and being around Navy ships. He enjoyed coming home to his family and a home-cooked meal. He loved seeing his hardworking kids gathered together on the weekends and seeing his grandchildren running around the house.
