It's only today, Wednesday August 16, 2023 that I learned of Kris's untimely and unfortunate passing. As it may be apparent, I did not maintain regular contact with Kris in the last few years. However, I did have a chance to speak with him on the phone not too long before his passing. The conversation was about a dog "situation" I was having with my Rottie, and I had called Kris to ask if he knew of any lawyers that could be of assistance. Although it had been several years prior to that since we talked, Kris was pleasant, understanding and tried to be of assistance. I am so terribly sad for all who knew him, loved him, worked with him and had the privilege and honor of having met him.......many people pass, and it will happen to all of us, but Kris was definitely special and is sorely missed -- even by people who may not have kept in contact on a regular basis.
My introduction to Kris was at Merrill Lynch as a client, when he was working with a partner/associate, I'm sure not long after he had gotten into the business. I stayed a client for a number of years, even as he transitioned to Morgan Stanley.
I've met a lot of people in my life; without any reservation, Kris Bush was/is someone I have deep respect and admiration for. I remember when he announced he was getting married; how he would leave work to take his dog out for a walk; how disciplined he was in training/eating regimen.
Your absence is hurtfully felt! To all his family --- my deepest and heartfelt condolences!!

I met Kris at Morgan Stanley almost 6 years ago.  I was always inspired by him. The way he carried himself thru the office, professional yet cool. I am not a financial advisor, so I had a unique view of how he mentored the trainees in the conference room, it was motivating. The admiration and respect was vivid.

We share the same birthday, he was 1 year younger. We are both ‘car’ guys – loved talking to him about the work on his Camaro, and the crazy story about his Viper in the shop. 

He was a strong and inspiring presence that will continue to have positive impacts on all of us.  My heart goes out to your entire family and extended network of people that are better because you motivated us.

Kris was my Financial Advisor and Planner for about 15 years. We bickered back and forth for  four years about me buying a new car. First he would say...now is not a good time. Then he would call and say...now is a good time, the interest rates are low. I would tell him the car I wanted was expensive. Then he would say WHAT can’t you find a used car you like? Well, Kris I finally bought a car and no, it was not used       I will be driving a 2021 Lexus RX.  I’ll have to say goodbye to my 18 year old Toyota. You have taught me something more valuable than managing my money. You have taught me that life is short and precious...buy the car you want and live life to the fullest. I’ll miss you.   Your Mom has called you home. 


Beginning a career as a young, new Financial Advisor has to be one of the most difficult and competitive environments to start a career in. I was 23 years old when I walked into Kris Bush’s office on my first day on the job. He was sitting in his chair, eating some almonds as I recall and didn’t really acknowledge me until I introduced myself. Kris motioned me to sit down, and I obliged. After taking a head to toe look at me, his newest mentee, he was quick to point out my mismatching shoes to the color of my belt. Part of me was confused, but without hesitation I went in to Men’s Warehouse (a place Kris would’ve gawked at most likely) that evening to get myself a suit and tie that would make Kris think differently of me.  I wanted to emulate the guy in every way possible. That was the relationship I had with Kris. I think I speak for everyone of his mentees when I say that Kris only wanted us to be successful, on point and ultimately ready for anything that could come our way. He prepared us. He made us. I’m so fortunate to have had an individual like Kris to make my formative years so special. I’ll take what he taught me with me for the rest of my life and I’ll always be thankful for that. Rest In Peace brother. Love you Kris.

I worked with Kris at Morgan Stanley when I first moved to San Diego.  He became one of the greatest influences on my life, professionally and otherwise, always pushing us advisors to work harder, learn more, improve yourself, look inward.  He was an incredible mentor.  My life and the lives of other advisors that worked with him are better off having known him.  

Bush had many catch phrases and was never afraid to share his opinion, one of my favorite Bush quotes came when a story of a 'self-made' millionaire was on CNBC.  Bush said 'oh whatever! Everyone is self-made, but only the people that work hard and are successful will admit it'

Many of the lessons Bush taught me still resonate in my mind.  When it's a late afternoon on a work day and I'm thinking about shutting it down, his voice still pops in my head 'pick up the phone murphy!'  My condolences to Suzi and his family!

Kris was my financial advisor for over 10 years, and he definitely was the best one I have ever had.  He was such a great person not only managed our account so well, but also made a good friend of my family. He called very often to update the account status, and every time we met, he always explained  and analyzed the market trends in detail. In addition, we frequently chatted about our family, hobbits, adventures, and many others.  His professionalism, dedication to his job and wonderful personality made it so delightful to work with him.
Kris, you will be deeply remembered in our heart. Rest in peace under Lord’s hands!

I first met Kris in October of 2006 when he was a new Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, and I also helped recruit him to Morgan Stanley in 2013.  Kris was "my work son".   I watched him grow from being an energetic and naive young man to become "a man of character and substance" and an extremely talented Financial Advisor (FA).   He always challenged me and some of the decisions I made,  and I feel I am a better leader for it.   Kris also volunteered his time to train our new FAs, and he was extremely good at it.   It gave him great pleasure to see his "mentees" learn and grow and emulate his actions.    On the day before he passed, Kris conducted a Zoom call with all of our new advisors.  During the call, he challenged them on every turn until he felt they were prepared to talk to their clients about the economy, the markets and a slew of other topics.   My last words to him that day were "Brother, that was a great meeting...I really don't know what I'd do without you....you're the best!".    I miss you, my brother, and you will never be forgotten!   Be assured that we will take good care of Susi in your absence!  In Kris's memory, I am dedicating the conference room in which he trained our new advisors to him and renaming it the Kristopher Bush Conference Room. 

Kris was my student in English class at Jacksonville High School.  He was exceptionally bright and exceptionally funny.  He drove me crazy, but I loved him to pieces.  Kris was always the center of attention and  did everything he could to get me off topic in English class.   He called me Ms. Colli-flower.  (My name then was Collins.)

My favorite memory was not of him in class, however.  I was mowing my backyard one summer day and I heard my mower making some really loud noise.  When I turned around to see what was happening, there was Kris on his mower, mowing along side me.  We turned off the mowers and chatted for a long while.  He was a junior in college at that point and was doing very well in his studies.  He was a focused young man ready to face adulthood.  I was so proud of him.  After our chat, he helped me finish my yard.

I am so happy to read that his life turned out to be so amazing.  I knew he had potential and I am so pleased that he was able to share his incomparable smile, caring spirit, and sense of humor with so many.  

Rest well Kris.

The day I met you was the happiest day of my life. You have been so wonderful to me, and I love you so much. Words aren't enough to express how deep my love runs for you. My kindred spirt. I'm going to miss all of our matching outfits and all of the nicknames you had for me; The flying Scoozeenee, Babe-eroni, Baberson, Mommy VonPoopensteenz...just to name a few. My favorite, however, was when you called me your wife. Best...day....ever.

You passed on the first day of Spring and I haven't stopped crying since. I daydream about you constantly and know you will always be with me, especially  when I'm mowing the lawn and pulling weeds. (I'm pretty sure you screamed from Heaven when you saw me touch the law mower) I got you, Daddy VonPoopensteenz. You've trained me well and I'm gonna give you my "Best Shot" by Jimmie Allen. 

I know you, Lupita-Marie (Pita) and Virginia are all watching over me. 
I miss and love you all so much.

I remember when I first met Kris he didn't hold back and was completely himself. Funny, smart, and incredibly professional. It was hard not to like Kris. We met at a time in my life when I was feeling lost and Kris was a guiding light pushing me to push myself. He helped me believe in myself at a time when I felt I couldn't and for that I will forever be in his debt. I hope to live on in his memory, paying forward the guidance he gave to me by helping those who are in a similar situation I was in when he helped me.

Susi and family.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  I did not know Kristopher but from hearing and reading about him, it seems he was an amazing man.  I am sending you love and hugs as you go through this very difficult and challenging time.  I hope your memories of Kristopher provide you some comfort.

I met Kris as a bright eyed and bushy tailed intern in the Morgan Stanley office one summer. He approached me with a stern look on his face to introduce himself...and let me know that my belt did not match my shoes.  "Work on it, Macelli" he said without missing a beat.  He terrified me. It was not until weeks later when I found him sleeping under his desk that I realized there was more to Kris than his brilliant array of suits and serious demeanor.

Kris was a person with unrelenting passion for his career and professionalism, but he could light up a room with his smile and lighthearted attitude.  We spent many days laughing in and out of the office, discussing his next auto project, and the many benefits of hot yoga (where he succeeded in getting me to a class).  And for the rest of that summer he always had a comment, whether my tie was askew, my shirt had a stain, or my shoes were scuffed he demanded more from me and demanded it with a smile.

I can remember one conversation I had with Kris that will stick with me for the rest of my life.  It was an early work morning when Kris came over to my desk.  Instead of the usual outfit related comment that I had come to be so familiar, Kris had a question for me.  "Do you make your bed every morning?"  I answered truthfully and said no, how many nineteen year old young men are prioritizing a made bed?  He looked at me like I had just shot the pope and immediately launched into a diatribe about not only benefits of a made bed, but the detriments of leaving it unkempt. From that day forward, I began making my bed – and, truth to be told, I noticed a change in my attitude for the better. Such a simple thing as making a bed has had such a profound impact on my life and I owe that to Kris.

Kris was a great a man. His memory and his values will live on in me for the rest of my days. I strive every day to be a little more like Kris and I can say one thing that is for certain: I will always make my bed.

We knew Kris only as a devoted "dog guy," but his passion was intense.  We have multiple pictures of Pita, Kris, and Klaus to share with Susi if and when she would like to receive them.  It's hard to imagine the grief she and all of Kris' friends and co-workers feel.  Our first reaction was disbelief, thinking the donations we were receiving "in memory of" really meant "in honor of."  So unbelievably sad!  We can also offer Susi the names of those who made donations to our non-profit dog rescue foundation "in memory of" Kris.  Our deepest condolences, Ardis Braun and the rescue team at Dobies and Little Paws, Fillmore, CA.
    

I first met Kris when he came to the Morgan Stanley Office about six years ago.  From the day I met him I was impressed by his professionalism.  He came to work dressed to the "nines" every day.  He was the consummate financial advisor in every respect.  He was a student of the markets and was constantly trying to hone his skill set.  We became friends and for those of  you who know Kris, he gets under your skin, he digs in and he goes deep.  We would talk to each other every day in the office.  Joking, laughing, talking about the markets, clothes (he was a clothes horse) and of course Conservative Politics.  He would drag me and then my two sons to Hot Yoga.  He was the Yoga "Nazi" and would not let us live the room no matter how hot it got.  Eventually I was able to last the entire class.  He also took me and the boy's to the shooting range to shoot his various firearms (they loved that).  But he went even deeper with both of my Son's when they were interning with me in the office.  He gave them good guidance about life, work adulthood, dating and of course politics.  Both of them really enjoyed his crazy sense of humor and the regular political text messages he would send them.  I truly respected Kris for his discipline in every facet of his life. Whatever he did it was 1,000 percent.  He motivated me in numerous ways to be a better person.  I will truly miss him and I am still don't understand why he had to leave this world so soon.  I wish Susi, his Sisters, Family and Friends Peace knowing that Kris is resting peacefully in the "Conservative" Wing of Heaven.  I am sure he will be giving Jesus guidance on what to wear and hot to rebuild Camaro's.  Rest in Peace Brother, see you on the other side.

Kris was a fantastic, heart-centered human being, a truly exceptional financial advisor and a good friend. We will miss him greatly. Our sincere condolences to Susi and all his family and friends. Give Klaus a rub and a hug from us.

Meeting you changed my life.  You ruthlessly judged my every move, bluntly ridiculed my appearance, called me on my skills, and after you tore me down you also took the time to build me up.  We began our story as your clueless sorority girl intern at Merrill Lynch and developed into such a close friend and mentorship dynamic over the past decade.  You helped me prosper into the best version of myself, personally and professionally and I regret so much that our mutual stubbornness and blue steel stare downs kept us from expressing the mushy feelings we had of gratitude to one another.  As I look back on our shared laughs and countless memories I reflect so fondly on your personal growth over the past decade.  You became everything you set out to become: successful, accomplished, trusted, loved, and most importantly to your journey you found your one true love.  Seeing Susi come into your life gave me the most profound happiness for you, and I am forever grateful to her for making your last few years of life, the best years of your life!  I grieve for your sisters, your nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws, dad, and most notably Klaus and Susi at home. I will never forget you Bush. You're sorely missed.

I hope sweet Pita and your beautiful mother were waiting there to greet you at the pearly gates.

First met Kris at a monthly gathering of unemployed people network session during tough times 2010.  He gave a seminar about  financial planning that made perfect sense in simplistic terms.   I was in my 50's, with not enough in the 'retirement' arena, I could tell that Kris was the guy I was looking for given  past multiple negative experiences with financial "managers".  
Kris proved to be trusted, humble, smart, on top of his game, but someone who listened and took interest in work/life issues.  And that smile... if you were fortunate to interact with Kris, you knew he was some kind of special person.   I can only imagine the grief to family, and sincerely trust that this singular message adds to the condolences of many.  

To Kris Bush's family: 
I first met Kris back in the early 2000's when I moved to San Diego as the Merrill Lynch Complex manager. I ultimately convinced Kris to join MER as a trainee and quickly took him under my wing to mentor as I knew there was something special about this young man that I couldn't help but be drawn toward.  He was so raw with his talent but was one of the most charismatic people I had ever met in my career. I was always proud of what he accomplished 100% on his own efforts and to this day always admired him for who he was as a business man and person.  I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing and will always remember him with high regard.

I first met Kris 10 years ago at Merrill Lynch.  He was the first and only mentor I have ever had. I would not be where I am today without Kris Bush. He was the big tough brother I never had.

Kris wasn’t just my coach, he was my good friend. Our similar backgrounds, and work ethics connected us from day one. We shared so many great times and conversations together. We lost touch for a few years after he left Merrill. I wish we hadn’t. 

I was fortunate enough to reconnect with Kris, a few months ago, when I joined Morgan Stanley. We talked for hours in each of our offices. We picked up like two old friends, right where we left off. I was so glad to see he had found such happiness with his wife Susi. My heart goes out to her.

My last memory of Kris was just a few weeks ago. As he walked out of my office for the last time, he turned around and said “Hey, I’m proud of you.” I never thought I would hear him say that. It meant the world to me. I will remember it forever.

I will miss you Kris. You will always be the toughest, and most caring person I will ever meet. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for making me a better financial advisor. May you rest in peace forever. Until we meet again.

I loved Kris.  When he was a rookie at ML I saw some serious potential and decided to align myself with contributing to his growth in advisory.  We became good friends and I will always remember the intensity he trained my wife for running the LJ 1/2.  She crushed it because of Kris’s intensity and passion.   And he always loved his Doberman dogs.   Life gets crazy.  We lost contact for a while.  But he always impressed me and I will always love Kris.  

I only knew Kris on a professional level.  I was privileged to be one of his clients.  I know I was not a big client, but he always made me feel like I was.  He always watched out for me and made me feel secure even during the last few crazy years.  He was an incredible professional who loved his profession and was very good at it.  He loved his dogs and I always enjoyed hearing his stories and seeing pictures.  My sympathies to his wife and family.  Such a huge loss to us all, but thankful I was lucky to have crossed paths with Kris.  May his loving and generous spirit live on in his family, friends and pets.  

Kris Bush, or as many of us would say KB, was the tough love goal enforcer of many at work. An honored and loved mentor and role model Financial Advisor Coach who loved high level analytical investment conversations.

Kristopher has been the neighbor of my father for about 10 years. He was incredibly kind, hard working, dedicated to his daily evening walk with his dog and wife, and an amazing smile that will forever be missed. 

I used to live across the street from Kris, while renting a side studio from my dad for about 6-years. I remember always seeing Kris with his beloved Pita walking around the neighborhood. She was such a good girl.  My black lab Ivy and my dads little white dog Leo would always run to the front door, bark and howl away. Pita with her grace and elegance always stayed calm, felt safe and protected next to her dad. Their bond was beautiful and the memory of them walking together will forever be engrained in my memory. I will always remember Kris’s smile and wave from afar. On the weekends he was always in his front yard mowing the lawn and keeping busy with small projects around the house. You could tell he was a man of strong work ethic who enjoyed the fruits of his labor yet lived a simple but fulfilling life. He really loved his green home, he loved his dog Pita, and he loved his wife and family. He lived a beautiful life.  He was a wonderful person, and our family is blessed to have known him. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and his wife for their loss. Rest In Peace Kristopher. 

We never exchange anymore than a hello with Kris but we knew him and had grand admiration for him, we felt he was that face  that you see everyday like you see the face of someone that is part of your family , we were sad when he lost Pita and we were very happy when he got marry to that wonderful girl, together they look very cute and very happy.  We had 5 daughters and every single one of them had a crash for him he was so handsome and strong and so like doing always the right thing and making the right moves.  We are now so heartbroken and upset sometimes life is unfair but I think we should celebrate his life and for wherever he is looking at us to know that he was loved,  admired and appreciated and he will be missed tremendously.
