Larry grew up in South Dakota helping his parents Clarence and Ruth Fischer on their farm and going to school. When he finished high school he joined the U.S. Navy. During his service he met his wife Margarita. Together they had two children: son Gerry and daughter Susan. Over time their family has grown to include six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Larry served in the U.S. Navy for twenty years and retired as Engineman First Class. He then worked for San Diego Gas and Electric for twenty-three years.
Larry and Margarita made their home in San Diego. He spent his retirement years with Margarita traveling across the country to visit friends and relatives and driving around San Diego. Their family in San Diego knew them for their early morning breakfasts and impromptu visits.
Larry is survived by his siblings Clayton, Dennis, Karen and their families; his wife Margarita, his son Gerry and his wife Mercy, his daughter Susan and her husband Manuel; and grandchildren Albert and his wife Ethel, Celina and her husband Tyler, Christopher, Cidjomar, Christianno and his wife Charmaine, and Emmanuel Jay, and great grandchildren Harper, Kailea, Mykailla, Mykenzi, Myla and Ronin.
