

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Dr. Laureano I. Santiago Jr. was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Laureano will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Laureano’s life journey began on August 10, 1925. He first greeted the world in Baguio City, Philippines. His parents' names were Alejandra Ibalio and Laureano Santiago Sr. He was raised with a younger sister named Lourdes Santiago. Laureano was usually involved in all sorts of activities with family, sharing many special life experiences over the years.
Laureano was a devoted citizen of his home country the Philippines. As a young man, he honorably served as a Guerrilla in World War II.
Education was also very important aspect of Laureano’s life. He knew that receiving an education would allow him to support his family and set a positive example for his children. He graduated from the University of the Philippines where he earned his Medical Degree.
Falling in love is a huge milestone any person, and luckily Laureano experienced that with his sweetheart Teresita Ventura. The couple exchanged wedding vows on December 2, 1956. The wedding took place in Aringay, La Union, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Laureano was committed to making his new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Laureano was blessed with three sons, Mario, Michael, and Mark. He worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later in life, Laureano was blessed with the gift of two grandchildren, Gabriela and Andrew.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Laureano enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Laureano worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. Laureano worked as a Physician/Surgeon for over fifty years.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Laureano enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including playing golf, bowling, watching old movies and taking part in church related activities. He was always willing to share his interests with others.
Laureano Santiago left us on June 2, 2011. He passed away in Calipatria, California due to heart failure. He is survived by his son Mario and wife Beth and their children Gabriela and Andrew, son Michael, and his youngest son Mark and wife Rebecca. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Michael Catholic Church in San Diego on June 17, 2011. Laureano was laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Diego, California.
Simply stated, Laureano was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Laureano leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Dr. Laureano I. Santiago Jr. touched will always remember him with a smile.
