

Mr. Lazaro J. Villegas was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Lazaro was born on December 17, 1913 in his home city of Manila, Philippines. He was the son of Florencio Villegas and Cornelia Javier. He spent the majority of his life living in the Philippines where he made many friends and attended school.
Lazaro enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Lazaro was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Education from Far Eastern University in the Philippines.
Lazaro was married twice during his lifetime. Once in July of 1946 then in June of 1990. Lazaro was blessed with the gift of six children. Lazaro worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Luckily, Lazaro was also blessed with the gift of six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Both of which live in the United States and in the Philippines.
Fortunately, Lazaro enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Lazaro worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was as a professional auto painter and business owner. He chose this as a career rather than pursuing one in teaching. He was employed for many years as the owner of his very own auto shop. Lazaro always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
His new life involved relocating to The United States in 1987 where he became a citizen and eventually retired. He spent 20 years living in National City. Even in retirement, Lazaro continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances.He always attend in K of P Senior Citizen dancing event going on every Sunday and Saturday in National City,which he meet more a lots of friends.He enjoyed dancing and participate in anyway he can. He got a award for a Father Of The Year on 1993 for being a very good and understanding father.
Sadly, Lazaro passed away on August 7, 2010 at Paradise Valley Hospital in San Diego, California. He is survived by four of his children; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister and many other relatives who live in the Philippines. Services were held at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel on Sunday, August 22, 2010. Lazaro was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Lazaro was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered as being a caring and giving person, as well as wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He was someone who was a vital part of everyones lives. Lazaro leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mr. Lazaro J. Villegas.
