Levell Sullivan peacefully passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home of natural causes. Six days later, Cynthia Sue Sullivan passed away with family and friends by her side, Sunday, May 8, 2016 in the hospital after enduring a battle with cancer.
Levell was born on December 18, 1933 to Susie Roberts and Edward Sullivan in Tuckerman, Arkansas. Levell was the second oldest of 6 children. He met Jane and had 3 children: Jimmy, Bobby and Kelly. Sadly their marriage was not meant to be. Cynthia was born on June 20, 1947 to Sue Kotake and Norval Ferguson in Columbus, Indiana. Cynthia was the second oldest of 5 children.
Levell and Cynthia met in the summer of 1967 while they worked at Solar Turbines in San Diego. From that moment forward, they both knew they had found the love of their lives. On December 2, 1967 they were married at the Little Chapel of Roses. In their early years of marriage, they enjoyed camping, snow skiing, water skiing, traveling and family barbeques. While they were very hard workers, they always managed to make family the most important aspect of their lives. They had 2 children together, Tania and Lorne. At 2 years of age, they lost their son. With selfless hearts and overwhelming love, the following year they adopted Brandi at birth, and 9 years later they raised their grand-daughter Jade. Over their 48 years of marriage, their honest and unconditional love for each other was evident from the beginning and proved to stand solid through the tests of life. This also proved to be true in death as neither one could stand to live without the other.
Levell worked as a master welder long past the age of retirement and had a passion for creating beautiful metal art. He also loved projects around the house and watching football. Cynthia worked at Sycuan Casino in the card room as a receptionist for over 15 years and during that time Levell found a new joy for the slot machines. She was always a very creative and crafty person who loved to sew and paint. She had a skill with the sewing machine and made beautiful clothing for her children. She spent many years creating ceramic dolls, clowns, jar lids, carousel horses, Indian artwork and flower vases. Cynthia was always a colorful person, always trying new things with fashion like neon blue hair. Levell was more traditional and loved his Levi’s and flannel shirts. Their difference in personality always complimented each other.
