Lunea Baldoz Hermosura was born in Malabon, Metro Manila, Philippines on December 8, 1941. Her parents were Entrasto Baldoz and Celestina Abella. She was the eldest of 10 children. Known as Lani or Ena to her family and friends, she spent most of her elementary years attending Malabon Elementary School. Lani finished sixth grade at Bario Baragongbong Villasis Pangasinan. She later graduated from Gregorio Sanciangco High School. After graduation, she met the love of her life, Sonny Hermosura. After a whirlwind courtship, the pair married and moved to San Fernando, La Union and began a family. Life was hard with few job prospects and little money, but Lani and Sonny persevered.
Lani became head of the household once Sonny’s career began to take off. Moving back to Malabon, she ran a household with seven children. In December 1983, Lani and the children joined Sonny in San Diego, California. She worked as a CNA (Certified Nurse’s Assistant). Later, she went on to help Sonny in his electrical contracting business where she assumed the role as manager and bookkeeper.
After retirement, Lani enjoyed spending time at the casinos with Sonny. She enjoyed cooking and sharing food with everyone who stopped by the house. In addition, she enjoyed watching over all the grandchildren in her charge.
Lani is preceded in death by her husband, Sonny, who was the love of her life. She is survived by her seven children: June (Anabel), Marc (Marilyn), Jean (Rick), Mirla (Marcos), Gary (Nelida), Larry (Rowena), and Rachelle. She is also survived by her twenty grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
