Manuela Almada Heras was called home to Heaven in the early hours of October 15, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Manuelita, as she liked to be called, was born on July 22, 1948 in Fort Hancock, Texas to Heleodoro Ponce de León Almada and María de Jesús Ledezma Rubalcava.
The family moved to Arizona and then on to Tijuana, Mexico, where Manuelita would spend her formative years and would meet her future husband in church youth group. After moving to Los Angeles, California, Manuelita went on to graduate from Compton High School in 1964. Afterwards, she took her classes at the local college, completed a flight attendant course and worked at the Bank of America corporate offices in downtown Los Angeles. On March 5, 1971, she married Javier Heras.
After moving to San Diego, Manuelita went on to have three children. Son, Xavier, born in 1972, daughter Amy, born in 1977, and daughter Alene, born in 1982.
Manuelita dedicated 51 years of her life to making a home for her three children and husband. Her greatest treasure was her eight grandchildren. She was the supreme hostess, the favorite aunt, and always had a joke to share. She was the most loving and affectionate person. But above all, she loved the Lord with all her heart.
Manuelita is predeceased by her parents Heleodoro and María de Jesús, her brothers Heleodoro, Leoncio, Leo, Jesús Manuel, her sister, Domitila, and her granddaughter Madison Brielle. She is survived by her husband, Javier, and children, Xavier (wife Carmen), Amy (husband Marlow) Alene, Grand children Ethan, Zander, Corban, Makaylen, Braylen, Jaxon and Milena, and siblings, Evangelina, Octavio, Elizabeth, and Noemí.
She will be greatly missed by her siblings, dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
