

Maria de Lourdes "Lulu" Pulido was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew her. She was also a woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Lulu was born on November 5, 1944 in Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco, Mexico. She was the daughter of Blas Pulido and Josefina Lopez Pimienta. Lulu grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Lulu was raised with five siblings. She had one younger brother, Gustavo, one older sister, Chata, and three older brothers, Pepe, Chito and Chato. Lulu was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
On July 26, 1969 Lulu exchanged wedding vows with Ralph Walter Lutes in Tijuana, Mexico. They later divorced and she remarried Ricardo Arenas. Empathic and loyal, Lulu was committed to making her new family happy.
Lulu worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Lulu was blessed with three sons, Ralph Walter Lutes Jr., Marc Anthony Lutes (RIP 1/13/73) and George Anthony Lutes. Another blessing for Lulu was the gift of one grandson, Nicholas.
Fortunately, Lulu enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Lulu worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. She was the owner of "Lulu's Produce" for 25 years. Lulu always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Lulu’s faith was important to her. She was a member of the Catholic church.
When Lulu’s retirement finally arrived in 2006, she was well prepared. Even in retirement, Lulu continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Lulu was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her.
Maria de Lourdes Pulido passed away on March 4, 2010 at Scripps Hospital in Chula Vista, California. Lulu fought a brave battle against diabetes. She is survived by her sons Ralph and George; her grandson Nicholas; and her brothers Gustavo and Blas. Services were held at The Little Lodge.
Simply stated, Lulu was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Lulu leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Maria de Lourdes "Lulu" Pulido.
