

Dr. Marianito “Manny” DeLeon Sevilla, 76, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025. Born in Valenzuela, Bulacan, Philippines, on July 29, 1949, he graduated from the University of Santo Tomas class of 1975, came to the United States in 1977, and went on to build a life of compassion, service, and faith.
For nearly four decades, Dr. Sevilla served as a family physician throughout National City, Chula Vista, and San Diego. Known for his gentle nature, devotion to his patients, and deep compassion for others, he cared for generations of families with kindness and humility.
Beyond his medical career, Manny was a man of creativity and faith. A gifted singer and musician, he performed in a band before pursuing medicine. He also shared his thoughts and humor through his writing, contributing to the Mabuhay newspaper under the pen name “Nanong Barbero” and writing another popular column, “Medi-Scene.” He is a past president of Puso Philippines and Pilipino Medical Association, and he was awarded Doctor of the Year at Paradise Valley Hospital.
He was a devoted Christian who often spoke of his faith to family, friends, and patients alike, reminding those around him of the goodness and grace of God.
Marianito is survived by his loving wife, Carmelita Albarillo Sevilla, his sons Emmanuel Joseph Sevilla and John Paul Sevilla, and his beloved grandchildren Ethan and Leia Sevilla. He is also survived by his brothers Nestor and Jose Sevilla.
Dr. Sevilla will be remembered for his warmth, humor, faith, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His life touched countless hearts, and his legacy of compassion and grace will continue to inspire all who knew him.
