How she met her husband:
When accompanying her brother, Peter, and his wife, Hazel, on a day trip to an Indian Reservation in the area of Lakeside, California (in San Diego County). George was helping the missionary dig a well. We believe they met in 1952. After she returned to Wisconsin to continue her work George continued to write letters to her and send her boxes of See’s Candy (chocolates) for her birthday. They married in April 1953 on the 11th day. They had a wedding ceremony in the Assemblies of God Church in Chula Vista, California followed by a wedding reception there and then another wedding reception in Wisconsin later on.
She and her husband started a children’s work in Coronado, California. They ministered to the wives and children of men who were serving in the Navy. They met in the VFW Hall until it was no longer available to them. Soon after that she became a pastor’s wife when her husband took the pastorate for 5 ½ years in San Ysidro, California. They then moved to Bonita, California for 45 years. She cared for her mother who lived in an apartment on their property (nearly 6 years). Marion served women and children in various capacities in the Assemblies of God churches over the years.
