Mark was a real American hero who served his country honorably in Naval Special Warfare Retired Chief Petty Officer Brown is a native of Fort Bragg Army Base, North Carolina and graduated from Cape Fear High School in Fayetteville, NC in 1980. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in March 1985. Upon completion of Boot Camp in Great Lakes, Illinois he was ordered onboard the DTV Elk River (1X 501), home ported San Diego, CA.
In the course of Mark’s career he was assigned many commands that showed distinguished flexibility, guiding him to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, U. S. Navy. This distinguished career eventually advanced him to Naval Special Warfare, the most elite command in the U.S. Navy. While attached to Special Boat Unit Twelve, now known as Special Boat Team Twelve Coronado, CA he display great where with all and challenged his abilities to be the best of the best.
In October 1986 - November 1991 he was assigned Special Boat Unit Twelve, home ported Coronado, CA. While assigned to the High Speed Boat detachment, Mark worked up with a special group of operators under the Naval Special Warfare to deploy to the Gulf region during Desert Storm 1989-1991. His talents were frequently show cased from numerous distinguished visitors out in the Gulf region and was noted as a highly motivated operator of the Middle East Force.
Mark Brown was involved in the "Tanker Wars" during the Persian Gulf War 10 March 1987 known as OPERATION ERNEST WILL. When the Special Operations Command put into effect OPERATION PRIME CHANCE, this placed Mark right in the middle of a little remembered shooting war.
In March 2005 Chief Petty Officer (SWCC) Mark Brown retired and landed a government service job as a GS with Supervisory Program Analyst for the Navy Planned Maintenance Systems, San Diego. Mark supervised twelve employees and oversaw Plan Maintenance and controlled written published Plan Maintenance documents Fleet wide.
