Marlene Lorenzana Trivino was born in Quezon City, Philippines, on November 12, 1955. Out of five children, she was the eldest child of Eliseo Joven Lorenzana Jr. and Hermes Cadena Lorenzana. Eliseo “Ely” was a retired Chief Petty officer with the United States Navy and Hermes was a Chief Accountant with the Bureau of Internal Revenue in the Philippines; also retired as an accountant from Scientific Atlanta in the United States. During Marlene’s grade school years, she spent a lot of time at her mother’s workplace after school. It was here that motivated Marlene to pursue her education and career as an Accountant.
Marlene was known for her kind heart and generous spirit. She helped and volunteered her services especially to disadvantaged people and helpless seniors both here in the U.S. and in the Philippines. Marlene and Alex have also been helping gifted students from poor families in the Philippines who cannot afford to send their children to higher education. Marlene is also being remembered as a Eucharistic Minister of Saint Michael Church, volunteering every Sunday after the 10:00 a.m. Mass. She has brought the Eucharist to homes of the sick and the aged members of the Parish. She is a role model to many and will always be known as “Ninang” (Godmother) to the young and “Manang” (big sister) to all her friends and relatives.
Marlene is survived by her husband Alex; Hermes her Mother; her siblings Tom and wife Ann, Myrna, Lizabeth and Husband Erik, and Elvin and wife Somer; Nieces Dyanne, Tracee and husband Gary, and Jasmin; Nephews Cole & Jordan.
