Mary Frances Bone Sisson was born in Morristown, Tennessee on July 16, 1932 to Samuel and Blanche Melton. The youngest of three children, Mary was married to Chuck Bone in 1955 and settled in California with their two sons, Clyde and Neil. As a young mom, she was ever present in the stands at her sons’ sporting events and never missed a chance to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She single-handedly prepared many a holiday meal and loved preparing for Christmas. She spent over 20 years as a banking customer service representative, working for Bank of America, Home Fed, Wells Fargo, and ultimately retired from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. Working with the public was her calling. Her attention to detail and loving smile made her customers feel like family.
After her retirement, she was an active volunteer with the Friends of the Descanso Library, learned how to use the internet, and even tried yoga. She loved living in the mountains, filled her hummingbird feeders several times a day, had a thriving garden, and enjoyed the time she spent in Descanso and Alpine. Mary attributed her quality of life to her relationship with Jesus Christ, her loving family, and her cardiologist of over 40 years, Dr. Fernando Zamudio. She was called home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Mary was preceded in death by husbands Chuck Bone, Earl Sisson, and great-granddaughter Sara June. She is survived by her sons Neil (Jill) and Clyde, grandchildren Sara (Geoff), Erin (John), Bryan (Christy), and great-grandchildren Reice, Dane, Laurel, Rylie, Brody, and John.
Services will be Wednesday, May 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Chapel of the Roses, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Alpine, 1912 Arnold Way, Alpine, CA 91901
