

Maura O. Peñafuerte was born on August 22, 1932 in Manila, Philippines. She was the daughter of Hipolito Salvador Ocampo and Eduarda Lombos Basilio. Maura was raised in Parañaque, Philippines with two sisters named Juanita and Purita.
Maura graduated from St. Paul's College in 1950. She later earned her degree from St. Paul's College in 1953.
On May 23, 1964 Maura exchanged wedding vows with her sweetheart Crispino Cruz Peñafuerte in Manila, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Maura and Crispino shared many happy years of marriage together until his passing in 2010.
Fortunately, Maura and Crispino were blessed with three children. They had one daughter, Ana Maria Cristina, and two sons, Christopher and Christian Anthony. Maura did her absolute best to raise her children on her own due to her husband's full time work schedule.
In addition to raising her family, Maura enjoyed her career in education. She was employed as a school teacher from 1953- 1968.
Sadly, Maura passed away on January 30, 2011 in San Diego, California. Maura fought a brave battle against lung cancer. She is survived by her children, Ana Maria Cristina Peñafuerte- Nery (Ronaldo), Christopher Peñafuerte (Irene), Christian Anthony Peñafuerte (Marlene); and her grandchildren, Luis, Bianca, Joey, Daniel and Tristan Mauro. Services were held at The Little Chapel of the Roses on February 7, 2011. Maura will be laid to rest in Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque, Philippines.
Simply stated, Maura was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Maura leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Maura O. Peñafuerte.
