

Mercedo Cruz Viray, a dedicated Navy veteran and proud member of the Seabees, passed away peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by his beloved family. A Vietnam War veteran, Mercedo served his country with honor, earning multiple awards throughout his distinguished military career.
Beyond his service, Mercedo found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. He had a deep love for gardening and carpentry, crafting beauty with his own hands and cultivating growth in all he touched. He also had a passion for watching boxing and wrestling, appreciating the skill, strategy, and determination of the athletes. His quiet strength and humble nature were a guiding light to those around him, offering steadfast support and unwavering devotion to his cherished family.
Mercedo is survived by his loving wife, Rizalina Viray, and their three children: George, Merlyn, and Meriza. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: David, Sam, Alex and Chris, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and perseverance. His family takes comfort in knowing that, in his final moments, he was embraced by the love and warmth of those who meant the most to him.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will dearly miss him but fondly remember the life he led.
