Nancy Lou Cowan

Nancy (Wallhauser) Cowan, 81, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2023 in La Mesa, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on November 8, 1941 in National City to Bill and Hazel Wallhauser and grew up with her brother, Fred Wallhauser.

Nancy Cowan attended Mount Miguel High School where she met her husband, James Cowan. She was a devoted parent to Shelli Sandstrom and Marcie Humes and a cherished “Grammy” to Allison Romo, Kiersten Lindsay, Brittany Fuller, Jennifer Davey, and Carly Sandstrom. She was also a very present and loving great-Grammy to Aaron, Scarlett, Jacob, Madison, Ryder, Jaxon, Cameron, and Brooklyn.

She dedicated her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for everyone. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and advocate. She made every birthday and holiday magical in addition to documenting every moment of it. She maintained life-long friendships with people she knew growing up, even across continents.

Services will be held at the the Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary on October 23, 2023 at 12:30pm.
