He will also be greatly missed by numerous family members, including 1st , 2nd and 3rd generations of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by His Wife and the love of his life Christian Ann Flores, Daughter Elaina Corin Flores and Son Jesse Miguel Flores.
He was joined in heaven by his Brother Gilbert Flores, who died August 4th 2013. Richard was born in Bell California, the youngest of Pauline and George’s three children. Pauline then moved herself and children to San Diego, CA to be closer to her family. Richard was still young when his mother met Gerald and his son Donald. They eventually got married and settled on Byrd Street in South San Diego. Within a few years Richards Sister Crystal was born. The bond they had was incomparable and the love they shared will never diminish. Crystal will always be Richards “Baby”.
As a child he attended Finney Elementary, Montgomery Middle and Hilltop High School. During these years he met many of his lifelong friends, including Danny and Margie Morales who were his best friends. They enjoyed many wonderful times together.
Some of Richard’s favorite memories were made on Sundays at his “Tata’s” and “Nana’s” house. He treasured the time he spent with them and his cousins eating menudo and enjoying one another’s company. This was one of his favorite memories, which he talked about often.
At the age of 12, Richard and Chrissy met through mutual friends. They dated for a few years during their adolescence, always maintaining a mutual love and friendship for one another. They reconnected in 1993, and shortly thereafter received the news that they would be parents to a baby girl. Richard loved children, and this was his dream come true. Elaina Corin was born on June 14th 1994. His love for his Daughter was immeasurable. In 1997, Richard and Chrissy were excited to discover they were expecting their second child. Jesse Miguel was born January 13th 1998. His “Baby Boy” was the light of his life, completing his family. Richard loved his children with everything he had; they were his whole world.
As a Soux Chef at Junior Seau’s Restaurant and at Planet Hollywood in Downtown San Diego, Richard loved to cook, and more importantly – too eat! You could often hear him at home in the kitchen, blasting music and singing to his “Old School” jams like Reasons by The Commodores or I’ll Be There by The Jackson Five.
Richard was a giving and loving man who was always willing to share what he had with anyone - even strangers. He cared about everyone, and constantly did everything he could to be supportive and generous. Richard was selfless, and thought of others before he thought about himself.
He was very close with his mother and step-father. They loved and supported him his entire life. Pauline’s unconditional love for Richard is the greatest example of what it means to be a mother. Everything she provided helped him through the ups and downs of life. No matter what happened, he always knew that his parents would love and sustain him.
“Uncle Beans” was so in love with his Nieces Valerie and Bella, and his Nephews Dominic and Mateo. He enjoyed being with them, sharing their daily lives together and watching them grow.
Richard felt so blessed to have Danny and Margie in his life supporting him. Knowing they were there with him, along with his family, to the very end was a great comfort in his final moments.
Please remember Richard as the wise cracking, funny, and loving man he always was.
We love you, our Son, Brother, Husband, Daddy, Uncle and Friend… till we meet again
