I'm only finding the news now but wanted to share my condolences. Richie was a very kind and gentle soul. We were in band together at Bell and he was such a cool and chill person. Always trying to include me and say what's up. May his spirit fly free

It’s been almost 3 years, so much time has passed yet I still miss you and love you every single day. 💓

Kuya Richard was “kuya richard” at home and “Richie” at school to me. I still switch between the two even when I’m talking to the same person. I feel very lucky to have been able to grow up with him, along with the rest of the cousins, and grateful to share many memories with him. Watching digimon before going off to elementary school. Eating cereal with everyone after school like it was a competition. When he got a new computer from make a wish and beat cancer. When we all went go-karting for the same reason. His orange hair and his checkered belt (I wanted one so bad when I saw him wear it). Badminton…??? He wasn’t on the team but he’s in my memories for the sport. When we were in high school together for the brief moment that we were, we hung out a bit. He’d also take me to the beach, just like so many others he spent time with, but usually to watch his keys while he surfed (lol). My favorite and most distinct memory (or memories since it happened plenty of times) was him dropping me off at the “south bay town homes” sign instead of taking me directly to my house cause his blue car was too low to go over speed bumps. (crying sobbing) It’s funny in retrospect. He was funny. He was a light in so many peoples lives. And my one regret is not keeping in touch in recent years. But I know he was loved very much by so many people. I love him. And I was reeeeaaaally looking forward to going climbing together someday. 

I remember my cousin teaching me how to play video games when I was a young girl. We played tales of symphonia, smash brothers, and naruto ultimate ninja storm. He would make me homemade ice cream, take me out to the beach and just forget all the worried about life. A person with a beautiful smile that it touches everyone around him, one of the most positive people I know in my life. A great role model, kuya, cousin, and wonderful person. You will be greatly missed. I will always miss you. I love you truly and dearly. No words can explain how different it would be without you.

One of my fondest memories with Richie was attending Coachella with him, Shaira and my cousins. I still remember it was his first time really hanging with my family, but he quickly fit in with his chill and quirky personality. His positive attitude and perspective on life is truly something I will remember. Rest easy Richie and know that you will be remembered for the rest of our lives. Love, the Mendoza Cousins.

I met Richie in elementary school. I remember he and Bien would come over, and we would all play Smash Bros Melee together. Those two gave me a run for my money. Around middle/high school, I started a friendly boxing group and he took part of it. I’ve always known him to be the quiet, nice guy. But once I saw him participate, he was VERY intimidating! Since that day, I’ve noticed that he has been really into boxing, and I was happy to see him pursue that hobby. He always invited me to the gym he trained at, but I was never able to join him. We would always mess around and box a little bit during group hang outs, even talk about some professional boxing news. I regret never being able to train with him, but he has given me motivation to start training. He always had a smile on his face, and never failed to put one on mine. One of the kindest, and chill people I’ve ever met.

Let me train a little, and we’ll spar once we meet again.  Rest In Peace, you two.

I'll always remember Richie for being such a kind, positive, and happy person. Every time I was around him he was always smiling or laughing which ultimately just gave such a joyous feeling being in his presence. All of the memories I have with him involved so much fun and good times because he was just so full of life. I'm very grateful to have gotten the chance to share those moments with him that I'll always keep close to heart. Thank you for being such a light Richie, you'll forever be loved and missed! 

I met Richie when I was a teenager and he was always the same as when I first met him; funny, smiley, and happy. He warmly welcomed me into the family like I was his own cousin. Whenever he talked about boxing to me, his smile would light up as he'd show me videos of him in the gym. Richie's personality will forever be infectious. His love for his hobbies was second to none. It is difficult knowing he is gone, but I will never forget him, and I will share his memory in good spirit for the rest of my life. I hope to live my life as a kind soul like Richie did, and to learn to love as much as he did. Rest peacefully Kuya Richard and Box. I love and miss you, and know you're looking down on us with that unforgettable smile on your face.

I met Kuya Richard in 2015, he’s the cousin of my best friend! Kuya Richard was one of the kindest people I know. He was always so welcoming and he always had a smile on his face. Kuya Richard took me and Ericka to our first club when we were 18 to celebrate his first big boy job! Kuya Richard also drove us to our first EDM festival. He was always there for me and Ericka and I am so thankful to have met him and grateful that he was a part of my life.

I wasn’t close to Richard but whenever I saw him he was always really nice with a big smile on his face. Will miss that beautiful bright smile. 

I met Richie back in high school but we didn’t really hang out much until the last several years. His personality was welcoming and always had an extra big smile with a side of laughter. Richie, thank you for sharing so many sentimental memories that I consider to be some of the most fun times of my life. It makes my heart happy to know that I’ve got a lot of pictures to look back on and remind me of those moments, especially double dates with you and Shai. I’m glad Eric and I were able to tell you how much we loved you and enjoyed your presence while you were still physically around. You’ll always be our beloved brother in Christ. May you and Box rest in paradise.

Richie was such a regular part of our natural life rhythms. He was present during special occasions and celebrations--family trips, birthdays, graduations, and holidays parties--but he was also with us in the mundane things--church, movie nights, spontaneous boba runs, and walks around the park. People thought he was the fourth sibling! He always made me laugh without trying and I enjoyed teasing him because he was so good-natured and never got mad. I know you're in a much better place, but we all miss and love you so much, Richie. See you & Jesus in heaven. Cheers!

I've known you when you were in high school and since then up to your last days, you left a very special place in my heart. You were a God fearing, humble, loving, genuine, jolly, and a very kind young man with a big and beautiful smile always ready for everyone. You were such a beautiful presence in this world. And I feel sad I was not able to tell all these wonderful things about you when you were still with us. Words can't express the sorrow I feel until now. They said, Grief is the last act of Love we have to give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there was Great Love. But I find comfort knowing that you're now Home with the Lord enjoying all His promises. My family and I will forever cherish and hold in our hearts all the beautiful and happy memories we had with you. You were such a great joy and we are so grateful to God for giving you to us and being a part of our lives. You will always and forever be a part of our family. I remember meeting you the first time during our freshmen year of high school. You always had a smile on your face and really lived the best life you could have. You taught me how to worry less and live a little more. I will always cherish the memories that we made together. I am so blessed to have a friend like you in my life and also become close to your family. Life won’t be the same without you but I’m glad that we were able to make a few more memories during our Christmas party. We will miss you and Box so dearly. We love you, always. 

I can’t think of any memories of you where you weren’t smiling and/or laughing, and I think it’s because you always had so much joy. I wasn’t honored enough to be one of your close friends, but I can tell you loved well and are well loved. They say God calls home the ones who have lived out their mission on earth. By the looks of it, you did that and then some. I pray for the hearts who are mourning the physical loss of you in this life. I can’t imagine it to be easy to lose a personification of God’s light and love. Rest In Peace, Richie.  

Six Flags was fun despite waiting all day for three rides. It was because Richie was there. He made things okay regardless of our circumstances. Thanks for being you Richie, we’re glad we knew you.

I remember meeting Richard in 6th Grade at Boone. He was one of the new kids at school during the time and he was in my class. We weren’t really close back then, but all I can say is that he was a strong, kind person, he has a good heart. He is always smiling and helping people out. He was a good friend to everyone.  I still can’t believe you’re actually gone. Rest easy dude. You are loved by so many people. 🕊🤍

Although I’ve only known Richie for a short time, I can genuinely say he was one of the kindest, most optimistic souls I’ve encountered. He was a great friend. It was a great privilege to have known him. May you rest with the angels Rich! 🕊

Richie was the most honest, good hearted and selfless person. We were really good friends in middle school and kept in touch in high school. He had always popped up back in my life time and time again.  To be honest it was always was at times I needed someone the most and thought nobody was there. I remember I was stranded in college because my car battery died and I called my parents, my bf at the time, but the only person who answered was Richie. He was there so fast and he always seemed happy to help. He was in my debut and I’ve always known him to be so free spirited and somebody who never feared life. My parents even remember him coming over to swim and eat.  He always has a place in my heart. I love that I got to live this life knowing Richie and we were all blessed to have such a beautiful soul like his. He was loved by so many including myself. Thank you for being such a loyal, dependable and positive influence in my life. I will never ever forget you. Rest in love.

Richard was the youngest member of our team at Cue Health. From the instant we met him via interview we knew we needed him as our team member. We thank Richard for teaching us so much. We will forever be changed for the better by the honor of having been side by side with him, even if it was such a short time. Will miss his laughter. He will always be family.  Our condolences to his family. 

I met Richie during a club meeting and he was such a happy and positive person. We instantly hit it off and I knew he would be a life long friend. We’ve experienced so many things together and I’m sadden that we won’t have the opportunity to make more. I’ll truly cherish the memories that we have made together.  I’ll miss the times we watched Once Upon Time, raved at led, vibed at Coachella, hiked Cowles, paddled board at the bay, and ate and caught up on each other lives. Your friendship was one of the best thing from our college years and I’m sadden that you’re not here to see all the nice things people have to say about you. Richie is one of the kindest people I will ever meet. We met at SDSU and the friendship was full of youth, laughter, and fun. We would go on boba runs, eat lots of food after class, and just hang out. He even tried teaching me to surf once! That was his passion in college. He was truly generous with his time and energy. I wish we got to share more memories together, but until we meet again I’ll always cherish the ones we did make. 

I remember saying hi and introducing myself to him at SDSU one day since I knew of him from a family friend. We’d talk once in awhile whenever we passed by each other at school and he was such a friendly person, I wish I could’ve gotten to know him more. Sending my thoughts and prayers, rest easy Richie.

He was an amazing and great peer during primary school and in college. Honestly, I'm quite shocked about this. I remember that he always brought such positive vibes to the study groups, especially for the EE courses in University. My condolences to his close ones and family...

I took a few ee and compe classes with Richard at SDSU back in college. He was a nice person, I wish I could've gotten to know him more. I'm really sorry to hear he passed away at such a young age, sending my thoughts and prayers.

I’m glad I got to know you Richie, I thank my friends for giving me your presence. Without them I wouldn’t have met you. You’ll be truly missed. Deepest condolences to all his loved ones. Rest easy my friend.

I had the pleasure of hiring Richard to work with our Compliance team at Cue Health.  His enthusiasm for learning and jumping into new challenges made him such a great asset to our team.  I am truly sadden by his lost - his light was so bright but extinguished too too soon.   We were truly blessed to have had the honor of knowing him, even for such a brief time.

Our love story is one I'll never get tired of sharing...

Richie and I met when we were just in middle school at the age of 12 and 13. The first time I remember us talking was when he approached me nervously during lunch to ask for my MySpace and shakily gave me a piece of paper and pencil to write it down. In high school, we became best friends "Riri and Shaishai." Even though he tried, it wasn't until after I came back to San Diego from college that we began dating.
December 27, 2016: The first time we exchanged "I love you's." It was right after our LA Trip where we got stranded and had to stay there overnight. We  got into an argument and had the most awkward drive back home. I thought we were going to stop talking to each other after that, but right before I left Richie's car, he stopped me and asked to pray for us. During our prayer, we both teared up and afterwards, he looked at me and said "I love you (so much)." Of course I said it back. A few days later on January 1, 2017, we became official when Richie gave me a bracelet with a cross (that I've worn everyday up to now) and said, "Our relationship starts with God and I want it to end with God."
You have taught me so many things including how to love fully, genuinely, and selflessly. You've made me a better person and continue to teach me how to be better/stronger; I will carry our love story in my heart forever. I love you always, my bestest friend and great love.

I have not known Richard for too long. But he has been an absolute joy to work with. He always brought with him a great attitude to work and was always smiling. I remember when I first interviewed him for his job he was nervous but I admired his drive to strive at his career path doing Quality Assurance and he was honest with his answers to my questions.  He was such a joy to have on our compliance team at Cue. He is truly missed.  We never got to have our team Christmas party and hand out our presents to the team. I never got the chance to give him his big huge box of Honeycomb cereal, since he mentioned during his introduction to the company as his Fun Fact about himself that he loved that cereal.  We miss you Richard!

Kuya Richard has always been a huge inspiration to me. I’ve gotten closer to him as I grew up and he became my mentor. I’ve always admired how much he lived his life by doing everything he wanted. He went through every possible hobby and he became good at each and every one of them. He allowed me to explore the things I liked and didn’t like while I was young and I’m forever grateful to him for that. Kuya Richard always had a big smile on his face and radiated positivity towards everyone he met. He was pure and amazing and I hope to be like him one day. It pains me so much that he’s gone but I’m sure he’s touched the lives of everyone he’s met, including myself. I’ve always pictured growing up with him and even asking him to be the Ninong (Godfather) of my future kids one day… But I know he’ll always be looking after us and guiding us while he’s up there in Heaven. He’s in a better place now and I know he is at peace there with Box. I miss you so much. You will always be my favorite person. I love you so much. I will never forget about you. Rest easy, Kuya Richard.

Richie was always laughing or smiling; I have never seen him in a bad mood. He is the epitome of an angel on earth with the most positive outlook on life. May his beautiful soul receive the amazing gift of Eternal life. Richie, you will forever be in our hearts, it was such a pleasure to have you as one of my friends and to have spent many adventures with you and Shaira, and to have grown closer with you through out the years. The group will never be the same without you. We will miss you everyday. Love you, Fly High!
