Bob Battenfield died at home after a June diagnosis of MDS/MPN, leukemia-like conditions. As PR director, Bob told the world of the success of the Ryan Aeronautical soft landing gear deployed on Apollo I. When with Foodmaker Inc., he liked to acknowledge that he said yes to the cute kid chosen for the "too bigga eat" Jack in the Box TV fame. Later, Bob Battenfield Associates, Advertising Public Relations, a became La Mesa landmark for twenty years. In retirement, he was acclaimed president-for-life by multiple organizations for his dedicated and good-natured leadership. He is survived by wife Patricia Boyle Battenfield, two sons, Scott Battenfield and Todd Wynward, daughter, Heather Jensen, nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. A long-time member of Fletcher Hills Presbyterian Church, his memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., November 24. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baja Presbyterian Missions, 1958 Willowbrook Court, El Cajon, California 92019, of which Bob served as President for over 40 years.
