June 7, 1945-December 21, 2016
Rolando “Rolly” Manglicmot was a man of incredible intellectual power, with amazing artistic talent as well. He excelled at anything that he put his mind to-teacher, musician, singer, folk dancer, and an athlete. Rolly was born on June 7, 1945 to Cristita Manglicmot, in the town of San Felipe, Zambales, Philippines. He finished his primary education from South Central Elementary School in 1961. He received his high school diploma from Zambales Central Institute. Rolly loved music and dancing and thru these skills, he earned a scholarship and graduated with a degree in Bachelors in Elementary Education from Philippine Normal College in Manila. He started teaching in Cabangan, Zambales and he then continued teaching in San Felipe for 14 years until he and his wife, Zenaida M. Sahagun emigrated to US. They made their home here in San Diego. Rolly began a second career at Spin Physics and then with the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 23 years in 2011. Upon retirement, Rolly and Zenaida traveled and visited places in Europe, Canada, Alaska and around US and Mexico. He also loved photography and was happy to share all those beautiful pictures he took with his relatives and friends. Rolly’s latest noble achievement was a member of the San Felipe Renaissance Group that spearheaded the formation of the San Felipe Band. Rolly will be sorely missed by his wife, Zenaida, of 40 years, friends and family.
