Rolando "Rollie" Martin Sarne

Born in Manila, Philippines to Pedro and Epifania, Roland was the eldest sibling to Josie & Mandy Sarne. After earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from Mapua Institute of Technology, he met the love of his life, Corazon Gaspar. They married, had their first son Ron, and then embarked on his own to the United States to develop a more fruitful life for his family. After one year, he brought Cora & Ron over to the US where they settled in Long Beach and Lakewood, California.

He spent his career as a Mechanical Engineer, while simultaneously serving in the United States Navy Reserve, including time with the historic Seabees. They soon had their second son Patrick, and made their home in Cerritos. After proudly retiring from both the Navy (20 years) and his civilian careers, he moved with Cora to San Diego to spend his final years near Patrick and family.

He was a proud grandfather ('Lolo') to his beloved Annysa, Roman & Madison, and a cherished member to countless friends and family. In addition to being able to fix anything and everything, he LOVED oldies music (especially Elvis and The Beatles), Cora's Filipino cooking & desserts, and making people laugh and smile with his countless jokes and stories.

Roland will be remembered for his joyous demeanor, as an amazing provider and caretaker, and his constant sacrifice to help and support others. Nobody will ever forget the impact he had on so many lives, and of course ... his million dollar smile!
