It is with sad hearts that we say goodbye to our sweet Mother. Mom lived a long and wonderful life…97 healthy years. Loved by everyone who met her and knew her. Mom and dad, along with their three children left their home in Mola Di Bari, Italy for more opportunity in America. They lived with family in Chicago for two years before they moved to Chula Vista where they would have their fourth child. In 1963, Dad, a chef, opened his restaurant in Imperial Beach. Marco’s Restaurant was part of our lives for 34 years. Mom didn’t work, at the restaurant, instead , she lovingly took care of all of her family. Above all, family was what mattered most to Mom. Keeping our Italian heritage strong and alive, we only spoke Italian at home. She enjoyed trips to Italy to visit our sister Frances and her family, as well as many other family members. Mom was a wonderful cook. We cherish the memories of Sunday dinners and weekly dinners with aunts, uncles, and cousins. When her children were older, Mom enjoyed fishing on the jetty in Mission Beach with Dad and other family, and also fishing at Eastlake. Always a fashionista, and never without lipstick, Mom was a true lady. She loved her church and all of her friends there. Everyone called her Nonna! Mom was gentle, welcoming, and kind hearted. Making sure that everyone had lots of good food to eat was very important to her, and she wouldn’t take no for an answer. We are grateful that mom passed peacefully, surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughter Frances and husband Mimmo, Paul and wife Edy, Mary and husband Jim, Anna and husband Nicola, Grandchildren, Tamara, Rosella, Nicola, Frank, Michelle, Isa, Priscilla, and six Great Grandchildren . Preceded in death by Husband, Francesco Palumbo, and Grandsons Antonio and Francesco D’Amico. We will miss Mom terribly, but are grateful for the sweet memories, and are comforted knowing that we will meet again.
