Samuel Fileberto Berg was born on October 29, 1925 in Sugarite, New Mexico. He was the 8th child of Samuel Berg and Ramona Lucero. He lived in New Mexico until he enlisted, as a teenager, in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, while stationed at Sasebo City, Japan, Samuel met Sumiko Yamaguchi and they were married on April 6th 1955. Samuel and Sumiko had a son, William in 1956. Later that year the family left Japan and moved to San Diego, CA. Samuel served America for 20 years before retiring and settling in Chula Vista, CA. After his retirement, Samuel worked for the Navy Exchange, Western Metal and CED. Samuel enjoyed playing golf and gardening. He was a huge sports fan, cheering for the San Diego Padres, San Diego Chargers and the New York Yankees.
