Trying to accurately put into words who she was is impossible for anybody but the people who meant the most to her, her grandchildren...
My nana was loved and known by many, you might know her as ”tia baby, baby, nana, mom, La baby T” etc...However, to me she was my second mother. She always told me the day I was born, she saw life in a different way, I brought her out of the dark hole she was in. As her first grandchild, my nana and I had a special bond that can never be replaced. She raised me as if I was her own, from a young age she taught me how to read and write as well as how to be a nice and caring person just like her. When i was a child, we would play Yahtzee every night (she would let me win of course) we would watch our favorite tv shows together like extreme makeover home edition, america’s got talent and 19 kids and counting. By the time I reached my teenage years it was really rough for me, but she was my #1 support through those times. I would beg her to pick me up early from school every other day and she would, even though my parents would get so upset. She would pick me up and we would hang out at her apartment for the whole day going on walks or watching tv together. Once I decided to switch to homeschool my freshman year of high school, She was very very supportive through it all. My nana was also my teacher. She would have me do assignments, help me with my workbook and even have me do at home P.E. Not only that, she also taught me very important life skills that you don’t learn in school so I basically learned everything I know from her. The day I graduated from high school, When i was up on stage, all I could see in a sea full of people is my nana with the biggest smile on her face with pure happiness and I knew how proud she was of me. I know she loved me and my cousins more than anything in this world. We were her pride and joy. My 18th birthday will always be special to me now. You were so excited to take me to my first casino and help me win the jackpot, I just won 50¢ but hey you were excited for me no matter what. My nana was the glue in our family, it was very important to her to have all of the Rubio family together as often as possible, We will still carry on that tradition just for you nana. So nana, thank you for being not only my nana but a mother figure to me and my best friend. Thank you for shaping me into the amazing women I am today and loving me unconditionally no matter what I did, say or identify as. You will always live in my heart forever and I can't wait to reunite with you soon. I’ll always love you nana.
Love, Ashley Rubio

Today we’re saying bye to one of the best people in the world. She had many names but I knew her as nana. She was always there for me. She was like my third parent. She would always be there for me in any situation. In the morning she would always make me breakfast, take me to school and pick me up from school, even if she was in pain she would still do it, that was one thing I admired about her. when i was younger me and her would always do puzzles and when i got older we never stop doing them. I have lot’s of memories of my nana, but the best memories happened while we were in the car, she would always tell me the best stories about her childhood. You will be miss so much but you will always have a special place in my heart, love you nana.

I can’t even put my feelings into words. I loved her. I truly did and I’m grateful that she knew that. She held me when I was born. She made me happy when I was down. She took care of my little sister when I couldn’t. She helped everybody. It’s hard to believe that she’s really gone now. We all loved her. She knows that.. I will cherish every moment I had with her. To the first memory up to the last. I love you nana. Its going to be hard without you.
