

Sylvia Pearl Larson was born September 18, 1924, in Duluth, Minnesota. She was the youngest of three children born to Jacob and Emma Knutson. Her siblings were Myrtle Watson and Arnold Knutson. Sylvia married Roy Larson on September 4, 1944. They were married for 35 years when Roy passed from complications of diabetes. They had three children: Gary, Joan (Hansen), and Debra (Nigro).
Sylvia was an active member of the Apostolic Faith Assembly in Superior. While attending the church she was the Sunday School Secretary/Treasurer and the Ladies Auxiliary Secretary. The Larsons entertained visiting ministers very often, serving delicious meals and helping them however they could with car repairs while they were in town.
Roy and Sylvia moved to San Diego, CA in 1979. She worked as a dispatcher for the Daily Californian and was a courier for San Diego Web Offset. The highest calling in her life was to be a good and faithful Christian. She was a member of The Anchor Church for 43 years, and wouldn’t miss a service unless she was ill or couldn’t drive. She continued her volunteer work serving as the Sunday School Recording Secretary, making costumes for plays, and singing in the choir. She prayed for her entire family and the church family on a daily basis.
Sylvia was an excellent seamstress and cook. She made lots of clothes for her kids when they were little, and she would often knit sweaters for newborn babies. She would fix a special dinner for her family and friends every Sunday.
On May 3, 2022 Sylvia fell and injured her head and broke her hip. After surgery she was placed in a nursing home for rehabilitation. She was unable to learn to walk again on her own, so after coming home for 12 days, she became a resident of the Arbor Hills Nursing Center. Sylvia is survived by her two daughters and their husbands,10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She departed for her heavenly home on December 26, 2022.
