

Thelma was born on June 7, 1934 in San Carlos City Pangasinan, Philippines to Pedro De Guzman and Alberta Munoz De Guzman. Thelma graduated from University of Santo Tomas with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1954. She worked at Grant Hospital in Chicago under the Exchange Visitors Program.
She got married to John Dauz on March 25, 1961 in Waukegan, Illinois whom she met in October 1958 while he was on Military leave in San Carlos City, Philippines. She and her family went on several Military assignments including the US Naval Air Station in Sanford Florida where her first child was born. They then moved and settled in San Diego in 1963 where her other 2 children were born.
She retired as Laboratory Scientist in Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista in 2004.
Thelma was known for her caring, conservative, reserved and regal like demeanor, she was crowned as "Miss San Carlos City Her Majesty Queen Thelma" in Pangasinan Philippines in April 27, 1957.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, playing the piano, watching her favorite Filipino telenovela, bird watching, and spending time with family. Thelma is survived by her husband John Dauz, Her children Ritchie, Eric and wife Dulce, Dante and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Richelle, Loraine and husband Terelle, Alexis, Sophia and Dominic; and her great grandchildren Tyrese and Tsego.
