Victor Manuel Montoya was born in 1930 in Santa Rosalia, Baja California to Maria and Felipe Montoya. Fifth born of eight children, where he met and married his wife Antonia in 1956. He worked at the local copper mine before migrating north. He worked different jobs before starting work in commercial tuna fishing. He was a hard worker and immigrated to the United States, bringing his young family. He trained and became a certified welder and worked at the National Steel Ship Building Company before returning to commercial tuna fishing where he had a 27-year career. He loved to cook and sing and had a great sense of humor. Victor is survived by his wife of 66 years, four children, 5 grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews and his remaining sister.
The greatest generation has lost another of the great ones.
