It has taken some time for it to sink in to my soul that Uncle Billy Hunt is no longer. There must be some mistake. It can’t be true. I always thought Uncle Bill was bigger than life. It is with great sadness I digest the news. I wish I could have been there. Actually I wish I could have been there for his life. But you know how we always put things off, another time will be better, and alas, now my chance is gone. I see in all the nice pictures that Uncle Billy had a good life, I just regret that I only shared a little portion of it. For the family I want to share my impression of Uncle Bill. When I was a little child, Billy was bigger than life to me. He was the toughest, roughest, baddest dude on the planet. He had big muscles, a harley, a big bushy beard, a tattoo and was loud, boisterous and carefree. I didn’t know anyone like him. Yet he was kind, silly, and showed me and my brothers the ropes, .i.e., poker, girls, and such like. My mother and dad adored UncleBill who could do no wrong in their book, and they didn’t watch too close anyway. With his white sailor cap and dress uniform, he cut a picture of the American naval soldier that was unforgettable. He was a scuba diver in VietNam and no telling what that entailed, but you can be sure Uncle Billy was fearless. After I got out of boot camp in San Diego, I rarely saw him except a couple times at family reunions. Before Dad died, Billy came to our home in Arkansas while visiting mother and we all enjoyed him immensely. Dad and Billy were a hoot! Aunt Eva, and family, words cannot express how I feel nor can they assuage my sorrow at the loss of my dear Uncle Billy. I can only hope that with the multitude memories that y’all shared you all can find comfort and peace in this trying hour. So long, Uncle Billy!

Recently when Uncle John passed and we were all sharing memories of his life...the call was ending and for a brief second I saw Uncle Billy's face. I remembered thinking how much I have always loved his face. His face comforted my Grandmother Jo, his sister when she was sick and terrified laying in a hospital. Time had ravaged her memories but his face and presence brought her so much peace.  His wisdom and strength  was silent, yet he filled the room with his love for all of us. That trip to Colorado was the first time I really got to know Uncle Billy. He shared his mistakes right along side his greatest triumphs, which usually included his children and grand babies.  He was grateful for his journey, the good and the bad. His childhood was not conventional and yet he made the most of it. I remembered thinking that he had to be the most humble of men, and yet he had no trouble rising to the task either...two unique and noble traits.  I think that his family, his children, grandchildren and even those who only knew him in passing, are incredibly fortunate and blessed to have walked beside him. I hope you all find peace, but more importantly, I hope you find yourself reaching for his wisdom, humor and love when you need it most. He may no longer be with  us, be he will always be within us. I love you all!

We all grieve your loss Eva and family and ours, as well. Billy will always be remembered as rough and tough man with a tender, loving heart who was not afraid to always say I love you and shed a tear. His greeting when asked how he was doing "every day is a holiday" would always lift one's spirit. 

My baby brother always brought much joy even when he squirted me when changing his diaper and being so cuddly as I rocked him to sleep.  His mischievous ways were so cute as Charlene and I cared for him when Mother went to work he was four on. Memories include the time he thought I could not see as he grabbed the hand of his girlfriend across the street, pulled her behind her father's vehicle, picked her up and gave her a big kiss right on the lips, the halloween birthday parties I threw for him and trying to corral his friends while taking them to trick-or-treat, how handsome he looked as he dawned his Navy uniform and being like a son to me all his life. Oh, how I already miss him.

I want to say that I'm sad to see my uncle Billy go but I know he's dancing in heaven along his sisters and brothers and mom and dad, I remember him always being a jokester and making me smile 😃 I love you and your memories will always be with me!
