Alina Toro, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on October 29, 2024, in Naples, Florida, where she had made her home since the early 1980s. Born on October 20, 1961, in Miami, Alina was a radiant soul who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met.
A graduate of Miami Lakes Hight School in Hialeah, Florida. Alina had a passion for working with children and spent much of her career in roles that allowed her to do just that. She served as a teacher’s assistant in Maryland, a position she cherished, as it allowed her to inspire young minds and foster creativity. Alina had a gift for connecting with children and always approached her work with kindness, patience, and a creative spirit.
Alina’s creativity shone in many facets of her life; she loved crafting and making things with her hands. She enjoyed thrifting and could often be found hunting for unique treasures that she would transform with her own artistic touch. Her love for butterflies symbolized her free spirit and gentle heart, and her home was filled with items that celebrated these delicate creatures.
A devoted animal lover, Alina adored her dogs, Zena and Roxie, who were her constant companions and a source of joy. She cherished the simple pleasures in life, from a cup of coffee or hot chocolate to the thrill of riding on the back of a motorcycle. She also had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, Evangeline and Wyatt, whose achievements and milestones filled her with boundless pride.
Alina is predeceased by her grandparents, Angelica, Gloria, and Marcelo, as well as her parents, Olga and Mario. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Elizabeth, and her cherished grandchildren, Evangeline and Wyatt. She is also survived by her siblings, Mario, Anthony, and Yvette; her nieces, Victoria, Jenni, Brittney and Lauren; her nephews, Anthony and Ethan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Alina’s gentle spirit, loving nature, and infectious enthusiasm for life’s small joys will be remembered by all who knew her. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now as free as the butterflies she loved, soaring with grace and peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to a local children’s charity or animal rescue organization. A celebration of Alina's life will be held on at a later date, where friends and family are invited to share memories and honor the legacy of a beautiful soul who touched so many lives.
