

Allie Bennett Shields, 97, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at home. She was born on April 15, 1915 to G.W. and Lura Denson Bennett. She was number 6 of 10 children. All were born at home on the Sanders Farm near New Site, MS.
At age 19, Allie married Marshal Shields on December 23, 1934. They were married 45 years until his death on November 27, 1979.
She was also affectionately known as MaMa to a large group of young men and women who often visited her and received love from her. She was the 16th member of East Booneville Baptist Church. She was a member of the oldest ladies SS class. They would jokingly say that when they are promoted to another class, it will be in Heaven. She received her promotion this week.
Mrs. Allie loved working in her yard and always had the most beautiful flowers on her street. She also enjoyed sitting outside in her swing in the afternoons.
Funeral services will be at 2:00P.M. Monday, October 8, 2012 at McMillan Funeral Home with Brandon Nunley and Ronald Michael officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Tommy (Linda) Shields; one sister Dewdrop Shields; one brother, Clarence Bennett; two grandsons, Jamie (Alicia) Shields, and Johnny (LaVaile) Shields; four great-grandchildren, Ali Beth and John Rylan Shields, Channing and Logan Barkley all of Booneville, MS.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Evie Boren, Rosie Vandevander and Marie Odom; two brothers Carlton and Harold Bennett.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
