Arvid Smith

Arvid Alford Smith, 84, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born November 9, 1927, to Elbert “Bert” and Virgie Ann Osborn Smith. He was a member of New Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed life and his family.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2012, at New Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Whitley and Bro. Jack McQuary officiating. Burial with military honors will be in New Lebanon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of McMillan Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Dartha Lambert Smith; two daughters, Debra (Danny) Short of New Site and Denice (John) Parsons of Tishomingo; one sister, Billie Hoffman of Booneville; six grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa) Short, Dr. Dee Dee (Jamie) Coker, Memory (Matt) Stanford, Chase Parsons, Blake (Leann) Parsons and Channing (friend, Haley Whitley) Parsons; six great-grandchildren, Austin Short, Alexis Short, Trace Duvall, Allie Grace Stanford, Jax Coker and Anna-Miller Coker; and one great-granddaughter that is soon to arrive, Ava Mackenzie Parsons.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Dennis Smith; his parents; seven sisters; one brother; and one granddaughter, Ginger Renee Short.

Pallbearers are his grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are his great-grandsons.
