Charles Richard “Dick” McMillan passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 4:30 A.M., with his loving wife Vicki and grandson Colton by his side. Dick lived a life filled with love and laughter. He faced everything with readiness and a positive spirit. Everyone who knew Dick loved him. He was remembered for his strong will, kind heart, quick wit, and zest for life.
He was born to Robert and Alice McMillan on February 20, 1957. As a child, Dick’s golden curls and blue eyes charmed everyone. In preschool, he was chosen as “king” of the Easter Pageant. During his school years, he stood out in basketball, playing key roles on the teams at Baldwyn and Booneville High School. Many people still remember his games and the excitement he brought to the court. Dick loved a good joke, whether joining in or coming up with his own, as his friends and coworkers can confirm. He was passionate about sports and enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting, and making trick shots on the pool table. He also loved rabbit hunting with his Beagles, spending many days with friends listening to the dogs bark during the chase. In his later years, he found peach sitting among his cattle, watching the calves run across the pasture.
Dick attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and completed his college years at Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science on February 15, 1979. He held fond memories of his college experience and maintained contact with many of his classmates throughout his life. Upon completing college, he returned to the family business at McMillan Funeral Home, where he worked alongside his parents and brother, James “Jimmy” McMillan. He excelled in the service he provided, winning recognition for his skills in Mortuary Science years after graduation, in forensic facial reconstructive ability.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice McMillan and his stepson, Cory Lambert. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Lambert (McMillan); his brothers, James McMillan (Darlene) and Bill McMillan; his sister, Marie McMillan Beasley; his grandsons, Conner Brigman and Colton Lambert; his nephew, Brandon McMillan (Bonnie); and his nieces, Ginger Buchannon (Andy) and Shelbi Flake (Whit).
Dick McMillan lived a life full of friends and joy, all who knew him were blessed to have been a part of his life. His Christian belief and strong convictions guided him all the days he walked his Earthly home. In recent days, many friends have visited, sharing numerous memories of days past with Dick, all acknowledging his antics and life stories which could fill a book.
