

Ewell Odus Brown, 94, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Southern Magnolia Estates Assisted Living in Iuka. He was born June 14, 1921 to Newton and Pearl Walden Brown. He was a lifelong resident of Prentiss County except for the time at Southern Magnolia and during WW II. He served from December 2, 1943 until December 25, 1945. He was in Battery B Field Artillery As a lineman, he landed five days after the initial landing at Normandy Beach. He fought in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received a WW II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and EAMETO Medal. After his service he returned to Prentiss county and worked in the dry cleaning business for 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Booneville.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Alton Byrd officiating and Nathan Brown delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Hazel Green Brown; two sisters, Virginia (Wilmer) Penna of Bartlett, TN and Beverly Taylor of Florence, AL; one brother, Vance (Louise) Brown of Booneville; two sisters-in-law, Eula Mae Moss Brown and Eva Nell Malone Brown; Caregivers, Tony Brown and Shirley Moreland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maylene Brown; three brothers, Leamon Brown, Edwin Brown, and Johnny Browne.
Visitation will be 9-11am on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at McMillan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be the nephews from the Brown and Green families. Honorary pallbearers will be the Isaac Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
